Whether your child is just beginning their Ukrainian dance experience or they are seasoned pros looking for continued training opportunities, there is a day camp or overnight experience for them!
For over 60 years, the critically acclaimed Shumka Dance Company has been performing for audiences across Canada and around the globe. Locally, they’re best known for their annual performance of The Nutcracker which has become a Christmas tradition for many Edmonton families. These dancers and choreographers are the very same folks who will be providing your children with dance camp instruction and inspiring them to pursue their Ukrainian dancing dreams!

Shumka Minis (Ages 3-5) | July 8-12, July 22-26, and July 29-August 2, 2024
Your littlest dancers can begin their Ukrainian dance journey with an introduction to Ukrainian traditions and folklore. Through crafts, songs, stories, games, and new dance exercises they’ll be immersed in Ukrainian culture. At the end of the week they’ll perform a regional dance and participate in an art showcase.
Shumka Splash (Ages 6-8, 9-12) | July 8-12, 2024
If you are looking for a mix of rhythmic dance and aquatic adventures, dive into Shumka Splash! Campers can look forward 15 hours of top-tier dance instruction, complemented by daily indoor and outdoor swimming adventures. Make a splash with activities like voyageur canoeing, splash park play, a river float, and a sunny beach trip!
Ya Ukrainka (Ages 6-8, 9-12) | July 15-19, 2024
Celebrate prominent women in Ukrainian culture during this exclusive girls-only experience! Inspired by the legendary artist, musician, poet, and writer Lesia Ukrainka, young female campers will be immersed in Ukrainian culture with inspiring presentations, a showcase of artistry from local creators, and fun, relevant activities. Field trips will offer further learning and inspiration, as well as opportunities to foster friendships and build community.
Shumka Chefs 2.0 (Ages 6-8, 9-12) | July 22-26, 2024
Learn more about Ukrainian culture through dance and FOOD! Budding chefs will be taken on a flavourful journey as they learn basic cooking and safety skills to create delicious dishes integral to Ukrainian culture. In addition to time spent in the kitchen, campers will also enjoy 15 hours of top-tier Ukrainian dance training on the dance floor.
Out of this World! (Ages 6-8, 9-12) | July 29-August 2, 2024
Find extraordinary adventure at this cutting-edge camp featuring technology and dance! Campers will experience 15 hours of high-quality Ukrainian dance training alongside heart-pounding activities like Laser Tag, a trip to the VR arcade, coding with Code Ninjas, epic NERF battles with Foam Fighters, and fun with robotics.
