Get ready, because the 46th Annual Cabbagetown Festival is returning to the streets of one of Toronto’s most family-friendly neighbourhoods on Saturday, September 6th and Sunday September 7th! As the longest-running FREE street festival in the city, this event always brings the community together, and there’s even more food, music, shops and performers to enjoy this year. So, grab your whole family and check out the delicious food, live music performances, street performers, and more!
For two full days on the first weekend of September, this action-packed street festival takes over the busy intersection of Parliament Street and Carlton Street. It features over 250 vendors and a jam-packed schedule of amazing family entertainment and fun activities. Feel free to soak in the atmosphere, snack on mouthwatering food, find unique shopping, and see energetic performances!
Along with DJs, live music and street performers, artisan stalls and shops, there are plenty of food trucks and pop-up patios, and an interesting Cabbagetown historical photo exhibit. New this year, visitors can honour Indigenous traditions at the new Indigenous Stage, featuring cultural storytelling and performances, as well as poetry and demonstrations.
Keep Your Young Festival-Goers Entertained at the Kids’ Zone!
Families are sure to spend some time hanging out at the free Kids’ Zone that features daily entertainment, games and activities designed just for kids! Located on Carlton Street, this always-popular area returns with kid-friendly performances, such as live music, magic acts, drag storytime, puppet shows, reptile petting, stilt walkers and more. The Kids’ Zone also includes free activities for all ages, like bouncy castles, giant outdoor games, craft tables, bubbles and balloons, immersive games, and face painting!
Don’t Miss the Family-Friendly Closing Parade!
Since 1976, the Cabbagetown Festival has become known for displaying community spirit, diversity, and history. Nowhere is this more apparent than in the annual Closing Parade, one of the festival’s most anticipated events! Taking place on Sunday evening, the whole neighbourhood comes together to mark the grand finale with a lively parade that is open for all festival-goers! Starting at Gerrard and ending at Wellesley, the community parade runs up Parliament Street and wraps up with an epic dance party!
