City of Toronto’s History Museums are hosting family-friendly Halloween events again this year, including crafts, musical performances, historical tours and ghost stories! While some special events incur a fee, some activities are free or with a suggested donation. Plus, remember that all Toronto History Museums offer free general admission all through the year!

Family Halloween Fun

October Weekends at Scarborough Museum
Date: October 4-26, 2025
Head over to the Scarborough Museum for Fall and Halloween-themed fun on weekends throughout October to have a warm drink and sweet treats from around the world. There’s also family-friendly Halloween-themed cupcake decorating, plus crafts and games all month long!

Fall Saturdays in the Valley at Todmorden Mills
Date: October 11-25, 2025, Saturdays 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Todmorden Mills Heritage Site hosts families for free light-hearted Halloween fun, including guided tours of the historic houses and drop-in arts and crafts.

After Dark Series (Ages 12+)

After Dark Tours: The Unexplained at Colborne Lodge
Date: October 21-31, 2025, Tuesday-Friday 7:30 PM, 8:00 PM, 8:30 PM & 9:00 PM
Join a chilling tour at Colborne Lodge in High Park to visit gravesite of John and Jemima Howard, and explore ideas about the afterlife and paranormal activities. Note: Some parts of this event takes place outside, so be sure to dress for the weather.

After Dark Tours: Lantern Tours at Fort York
Date: October 15-25, 2025, Thursday-Saturday 7:30 PM – 9:30 PM
Go back in time this Halloween at Fort York National Historic Site for their After Dark lantern tours to hear chilling and eerie tales of the historic buildings and surrounding grounds. Learn about the bloody Battle of York, explore the military burial ground and find out more about the fort’s many mysteries.

A Skeptic’s Séance: Psychology and the Supernatural at Spadina Museum
Date: October 24-25, 2025, Friday-Saturday 7:00 PM
Spend an unforgettable evening with acclaimed author Ann McDougall, reading from her newly published book, A Ghost in the Room: Supernatural Adventures in Historic Houses. Then, join a guided tour of the Spadina Museum, blending scholarly insight with Halloween thrills and chills. Costumes welcome!

After Dark Tours: Montgomery’s Inn Lantern Tours
Date: October 25-26 & 30, 2025, 6:00 PM & 8:00 PM
In the Old Town of Islington, uncover eerie tales about the past inhabitants of the Inn and explore the historic house and the Islington burial ground, connecting with Toronto’s past in new and spooky ways.
