Start your kids on a beautiful musical adventure with lessons at Allegro Academy of Music, which offers year-round music programs for young students of all ages and levels! Their primary emphasis is to nurture each student’s innate musicality and to help them develop healthy techniques. Learning an instrument can be challenging, but it is also incredibly satisfying to see the amazing results once all the hard work has been done.

Allegro Academy of Music uses the Suzuki method, an internationally recognized music curriculum and teaching philosophy that dates back to the mid-20th century. Its idea that musical ability can be developed in all children has been well-proven. Studies begin at a young age, where children become comfortable with the instruments before learning to read music. In fact, young students can learn the basics of music before they have even begun to read a language!

Music for Young Children (MYC)

The Music for Young Children (MYC) is a beginners’ program for children aged three and up. Parents and kids can sign up for  active and entertaining lessons, filled with music, piano-playing, voice, theory, music games and more! Classes use the Suzuki method, embodying the idea that it is beneficial when children observe each other.

In MYC, participants meet weekly for an hour in small groups within their own age category. The kids are accompanied by an adult (parent, grandparent or caregiver) who also participates in the program.

Sunshine (Ages 3-4)
For the youngest students, the Sunshine program builds the foundation in music reading and playing the piano. Students participate in movement exercises through beats and rhythms, as well as developing their fine motor skills through playing rhythm instruments together.

Sunbeams (Ages 5-6)
This program for kids in Kindergarten and Grade 1 introduces students to “big kid” lyrics, plus musical concepts, finger numbers, and keyboard geography. Songs and games encourage and reinforce listening, along with rhythm and keyboard ensembles.

Moonbeams (Ages 7-9)
For older kids, this class is designed to support their growing sense of independence. Student develop their music reading abilities, while the songs incorporate early piano literature, folk songs, technique and harmonization. Students at the final level (Moonbeams Three) are then prepared to continue their musical studies and Grade One Conservatory examinations.
