Toronto Circus Centre Fall / Winter Session — Class Details
From tiny tots to talented teenagers, kids can step right up with Toronto Circus Centre’s Fall/Winter lessons! At their well-equipped gym in Leaside, all the kids can have a great time as they tumble, swing, climb, juggle and clown around. TCC has a level for every age and ability, and their experienced coaches ensure all participants try every type of activity and apparatus so they can discover their many special talents. In this non-competitive setting, the young circus artists learn aerials, juggling, floor acrobatics, and more. Even better, the kids also develop confidence, learn cooperation and leadership, and expand their performance skills.
Circus Tots (Ages 2-3)
Do your little ones like to jump, swing, twirl and tumble? With you by their side, your little one can discover the joy of the circus! At this weekly Parent/Guardian & Tot Fall / Winter program, the outgoing TCC instructors help the tiniest troupe members explore elements of the circus, including aerial and ground circus acrobatics. Not only does this class help them discover fundamental movement and physical skills through play, but it’s also a magical bonding experience for families, and lots of fun too!
Kinder Cirque (Ages 4-5)
Both on the ground and in the air, Kindergarten-aged kids can develop their creativity, confidence and coordination at TCC’s Kinder Cirque classes! Here, the growing performers tackle more acrobatic feats as they jump, balance, and play their way through the fun lessons. It’s the perfect place for your kids to build coordination and explore movement in a safe, nurturing environment. Every week, there are plenty of giggles and games, and circus magic, of course!
Circus Kids (Ages 6-11)
Junior circus stars-in-training have fun under the big top! In this program for older kids, continuing lessons help the students increase their strength, flexibility, coordination, confidence and creativity. Meanwhile, these activities can enhance their physical performance in all sports! TCC’s expert coaches promote a positive space where the students learn the basic moves while more experienced junior acrobats can build upon their circus skills. Additionally, participants practise the many different circus acts, such as juggling, floor and partner acrobatics, aerial trapeze, hoop, rope and silks. Then, at the end of the session, the class invites their families to a special circus show — don’t miss it!
Circus Fitness (Ages 10+)
Are your kids looking for a new and exciting way to stay in shape? Here, young people don’t just get fit, they get “Circus-Fit”! In this one-hour class, which will get kids into big-top shape using the various kinds of circus equipment, all while being encouraged to discover new talents. Kids don’t need to feel nervous about participating in TCC’s circus lessons because previous circus experience is not required, and everyone is welcome. In addition, the instructors can adjust the lessons to suit each child’s talents and individual skill levels. Plus, participants can learn how to do a handstand!
Teen Circus (Ages 11-17)
For teens who are looking to stay in shape in a fun environment, this class gets them soaring to new heights! It’s ideal for active people, whether they are beginners or have aspirations towards a career in the circus, or if they are cross-training for other sports. Here, students work on all the activities or focus on one or more apparatus, such as trapeze, hoop, rope and silks. As a grand finale, students invite parents to an amazing circus show at the end of the Fall Session, which is an attraction not to be missed!
Youth Performance Troupe (Ages 8-17)
The Toronto Circus Centre Fall / Winter Session hosts experienced older students with professional stage aspirations for circus fun! In this more intense circus training regimen, the performers receive personalized instruction from TCC’s expert coaches to hone their skills. Not only do they focus on their individual acts, but they all work together to create an exhilarating show. Unlike many sports and physical activities, circus training has plenty of variety. This means that there is something for every junior circus star in training!
Aerial Silks Intensive and Aerial Hoop Intensive
These classes are intended for experienced students who are taking an additional TCC class and want more intense training focused on aerial silks or hoop. (Students must meet skill requirements to qualify.) The performers learn from experienced coaches like Kiera, an aerial hoop artist with a passion for self-expression through art. As a performance troupe student at TCC herself, Kiera is excited to share her aerial abilities with the young circus stars!
Contortion/Circus Flexibility
Experienced performers can dramatically increase their flexibility with lessons from Gulnar, a top contortionist from the Chinese circus! This solo-and-partner stretching class offers a curriculum based on gymnastics and personal training, as well as Chinese and Russian professional circus coaching techniques. These classes help students improve posture, relieve pain, increase range-of-motion for all sports, and improve dance or aerial acrobatics skills too.
