Girls can experience a true summer adventure at Camp Northway, living in the great outdoors on the serene Cache Lake in Algonquin Provincial Park. With just 60 campers and a camper-to-staff ratio of 3:1, Northway provides a classic camp experience where kids appreciate the beauty of nature.

Camp Northway, founded in 1906, is Canada’s oldest overnight all-girls summer camp. In the spirit of the wilderness, Northway is off-the-grid (there is no electricity) so campers can truly unplug and live as naturally as when on a canoe trip. Like simpler times, instead of TikToks and texts, campers write and receive letters from home which become treasured keepsakes that your child can read and re-read while at camp.

A Technology-Free Camp Experience

As our dependence on electronic entertainment and communication increases, so does the importance of time away from it. While the technology we use has changed greatly in the past few decades, a brochure from 1959 sums up Camp Northway’s intention: “Removed from the artificial stimulation of radio, television and movies, freed from the confines of a city and school life, a child sees, often for the first time, the beauty and harmony of the world around her.”

Instead of just spending their whole summers sitting on their phones, a summer at Camp Northway gives girls the opportunity to grow and experience greater independence. Furthermore, keeping the camp environment free from distracting electronic devices helps campers develop lifelong friendships. In such a hectic world, this is a rare opportunity for kids to step outside this bubble and engage with new friends in person.

Camp Northway (Girls Aged 7-16)

Northway offers a traditional camp program, making the most of their wilderness setting. Waterfront activities take place on the pure and clear waters of Cache Lake, including swimming, canoeing, kayaking, and sailing. Canoe Trips into Algonquin Park are also one of the most loved activities at the camp. The Craft House is open all day, so campers can drop in whenever the creative spirit moves them. Campers and counsellors also produce two full musicals each summer!

At Camp Northway, each waterfront platform tent is comprised of three campers and one counsellor.
