The National Ballet of Canada’s production of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker returns to the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts this year, after cancelling their 2020 edition.

Following renowned Canadian choreographer James Kudelka’s version of the perennial Christmas tale, a brother and sister in rural 19th-century Russia experience their Christmas Eve dream. They journey through spectacular adventures including the glittering realm of the Snow Queen, ending at the magnificent palace of the Sugar Plum Fairy.

There are changes to the production this year, due to Covid restrictions. For instance, there are no children under the age of 12 dancing and all performers and crew are fully vaccinated. There will also be no external performers this year, such as the celebrity guests in the role of the Cannon Dolls.

Note: All patrons 12 years of age or older must provide proof of vaccination to attend. Furthermore, children under 12 must provide proof of a negative COVID-19 rapid antigen test or a negative PCR test. More information is available here.
