Donât say âBah Humbugâ this holiday season because magic returns to Meridian Hall with the TO Live and Glatz Concerts presentation of âDisney in Concert: The Muppet Christmas Carolâ!
In a quirky twist, this beloved adaptation of Dickensâ timeless tale features the zany Muppet gang and Michael Caine as the only human main character, as the curmudgeon Ebenezer Scrooge.
Now, families can experience this quintessential holiday tale together, complete with the special magic only The Muppets can create. Not only is this film one of the most entertaining interpretations of A Christmas Carol, you can also experience The Muppets like you never have before! In addition, you can sing along with your favourite Muppet characters to catchy songs like âScrooge,â âOne More Sleep âTill Christmas,â and âChristmas Pastâ on the big screen, accompanied by a live orchestra.
Christmas comes early to Meridian Hall when âDisney in Concert: The Muppet Christmas Carolâ is performed for only two performances on November 28-29th. Enjoy a night out at the symphony with the whole family for a kid-friendly screening of the complete film with the score performed live. Led by Conductor Evan Mitchell, the TO Live Orchestra performs the entire original score, which was composed by Miles Goodman (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Little Shop of Horrors) with songs by OscarÂź, EmmyÂź, and GRAMMYÂź-winning songwriter Paul Williams (âRainbow Connection,â âEvergreenâ). This family-friendly holiday concert is a special event you wonât want to miss!
Join The Muppets as they travel back in time to Dickensâ Victorian-era England, where the Christmas-hating and unscrupulous money-lender Scrooge discovers the meaning of life through story and song. In this classic holiday tale, grumpy Scrooge receives Christmas Eve visits from the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future. Even though he is a miserable person who seems beyond any hope of redemption, they show him the error of his self-serving ways. After the Spirits open Scroogeâs eyes, and the kind and humble Bob Cratchit and his family offer him kindness, he finally opens his heart and appreciates the true joys of Christmas.
As always, The Muppets put their spin on the delightful story, with Kermit the Frog in the role of Bob Cratchit, the hardworking and put-upon clerk of stingy Ebenezer Scrooge (Michael Caine). Meanwhile, The Great Gonzo plays Charles Dickens, the narrator, following the action with help from the wisecracking Rizzo the Rat. The film also features feisty Miss Piggy as Emily Cratchit, silly Fozzie Bear as Mr. Fozziwig, and adorable Robin the Frog as Tiny Tim.
