All young athletes, ranging in age from 4 to 16, can be taught important soccer skills at North Toronto Soccer and participate in a variety of ways, from their action-packed Summer Camps, a dynamic summer Recreational League, plus their Soccer Academy. Players at any level can take part in this fun youth soccer environment, so there’s no need to worry about your child’s level of ability. North Toronto Soccer — Summer Camps (Ages 4-12)

With nine one-week camps full of fun on the soccer field, kids have a *ball* at North Toronto Soccer’s Summer Camps! These camps are taught by top-notch coaches who introduce kids to soccer and other sports in a fun and safe environment. All players between the ages of 4-12 of all soccer skill and experience levels are welcome. Participants learn teamwork build their confidence, and enjoy an active lifestyle. Along with soccer instruction, the kids get the chance to laugh, play, learn, discover and make new friends!

  • Ages 4-5 (Mornings Only) — For younger kids, summer camp runs in the mornings with a combination of free time, indoor time, plenty of park time and lots of soccer! The soccer lessons are balanced with park time to cool off and socialize. Coaches give them the freedom to run, jump, climb and play!
  • Ages 6-8 (Full-Day or Half-Day) — With morning or full-day options, mornings consist of instructed soccer activities and games, with time for alternative sports and games in the late morning. At this stage of soccer development, there is a strong focus on dribbling skills with the ball. For full-day campers, some time is spent at the outdoor community pool for a supervised free swim. It’s a great way to cool off and refresh!
  • Ages 9-12 (Full-Day or Half-Day) — Older players can focus their soccer lessons and develop their game. The inclusion of structured small-sided games allows young players to begin transferring skills into game scenarios.

Summer Recreation League (Ages 4-16)

North Toronto Soccer’s weekly Summer Recreation Program provides a fun and safe environment for kids to play soccer in a team-based environment. In so doing, the kids can maintain a healthy and active lifestyle, while also building social connections. The program is divided into appropriate age groups and genders to maximize fun and development for all. Sessions take place once a week for one hour.

This year, North Toronto Soccer has implemented a new friend request policy that enhances the recreational soccer experience while fostering a sense of community and inclusivity. In it, participants can submit friend requests during registration (up until April 1st), so they have fun in a supportive and enjoyable environment. The policy ensures everyone can fully embrace the spirit of recreational soccer with friends by their side!

Level Programs run in various age groups:

  • Active Start (Ages 4-6) — Accompanied by their parents, the youngest players get introduced to the game of soccer. Taking place in a non-competitive environment, this age-appropriate curriculum focuses on physical literacy, motor skills, and team participation.
  • FUNdamentals (Ages 7-8) — The FUNdamentals Program lets youth play soccer in a fun and safe environment, regardless of background or previous experience. Players also practice individual techniques, such as dribbling, passing, and shooting.
  • Recreational Development League (Age 9-12) — This league focuses on youth staying active and creating connections with the other players. Teams play against different teams every session to maximize the experience for players and create balanced competition.
  • Youth Recreational League (Ages 13-16) — For teens, the Youth Recreational League allows them to play regardless of background or previous experience.

North Toronto Soccer Summer Academy (Ages 7-13+)

Located at Eglinton Park, the North Toronto Nitros Academy is the perfect summer environment for experienced players to become better athletes. They also get a sneak peek of the Nitros staff and programs offered at North Toronto Soccer. The excellent coaches instill a sense of professionalism and confidence in all of the participants. Therefore, lessons balance teaching elite-level soccer skills, techniques and tactics with personal leadership skills.

There are specific weeks where each age group can attend Academy, specially planned to create the best environment for players. There is a focus on soccer training, as well as multi-sport opportunities throughout the week. Fun and alternative soccer activities include soccer tennis and World Cup!

  • U7-U12 Academy — With two training sessions before lunch, coaches break up the day with free time to allow players to rest and recover. After lunch, players participate in scrimmages and do other soccer activities, such as soccer tennis in an unstructured and relaxed environment.
  • U13+ Academy — With two training sessions of 1.5 hours, players can have a snack and some free time to recover before their second training session of the day. The day ends with some Small-Sided Games to wrap up the day on a competitive note.
  • Goalkeeper Week — During Goalkeeper Week, U8-U12 and U13+ players alternate days so the top-class staff can work with all age groups while letting the players rest between lessons. On off days, players work on other important soccer skills, ensuring a great balance of instruction, development and fun.
  • Position-Specific Week — Players decide which position to focus on during the Position-Specific Week, such as Defenders, Midfielders or Forwards. Working on various techniques for different positions, coaches determine the most appropriate groupings to maximize players’ development. Players take part in two 1.5-hour  sessions, along with breaks for rest and free time.
