Sankofa Square hosts Sankofa Fest, where the former one-day Sankofa Day has evolved into a free, three-day festival celebrating the cultural traditions, art, music, and community engagement of Toronto, including headliner Mýa and DJ Collective featuring Deh’Ya. The weekend’s events include Friday’s Fashion, Culture & Marketplace Day with fashion shows and DJ sets, Saturday’s Block Party with international dance and music showcases, and Sunday’s Community Day with Kids Play Zone with face painting and basketball clinic, plus a Caribbean Film Festival Outdoor film screening.
