Toronto Caribbean Carnival (formerly known as Caribana) is a spectacular display of costumes, music and culture, with multiple weeks worth of events across the city, culminating in the Grand Parade on August Long weekend. There are many events of interest to families, including the Junior King and Queen Showcase on July 11 and the free Junior Parade on July 18 in Scarborough, a Calypso Showcase in North York, a Steelband competition downtown; then, the Grand Parade takes over Exhibition Place on August 1, and lastly, the free Pan In D’ Park event features top steel bands, DJs, Calypso artists and a marketplace for family fun the next day.
