Winter Stations Design Competition is returning for 2022 to celebrate Toronto’s winter waterfront landscape, beginning on Family Day. It displays temporary public art installations by Canadian and international winners. The pieces incorporate the existing lifeguard towers in the east-end Beach neighbourhood along Kew and Woodbine beaches, which act as visual anchor points.
This year, the theme is “Resilience”. It’s particularly poignant since winning entries last year were not displayed at that time due to Covid-19 restrictions. Designers kept current challenges in mind so that their stations can be experienced both up close and from afar.
