If so, light up your young performer’s soul with Act One School of Drama summer camps! Summer is the time to play, cultivate new or established passions, gain skills, and have FUN.

The Act One School of Drama has provided quality performing arts training for the Eastern GTA for over 26 years. Their philosophy is “All the World is a Stage,” because acting and drama can enhance everyday life. Drama has something to offer for everyone: a shy youth looking to build confidence, an imaginative kid who would benefit from positive structure, a child looking for new friends and a creative outlet, as well as those who are dreaming of a future acting career. Unlike many drama camps, Act One’s camp staff are all post-secondary students or older and boast rich and varied acting backgrounds. They are motivated by their passion for drama and united in a love of teaching the next generation of young performers. Summer Camps

This summer, Act One School of Drama is offering four 2-week sessions for kids aged 5 – 14 years. Camps run from 9 am to 4:30 pm and parents can access a low-cost, pay-as-needed longer day, with an early drop-off from 7:30 am and a late pickup up to 6 pm. Camp sessions are normally 10 days and run from July 4 – 14, July 17 – 28, July 31 – August 11 (9 days), and August 14 – 25, 2023. These camps employ an age-relevant format and a 5:1 camper-to-staff ratio to ensure a positive balance between group interaction and individual camper attention and support. Each session will contain a balanced mix of games and activities within a theatrical and drama framework. Campers will explore basic theatrical elements of story-telling, acting, performing in public, puppetry, mask, and much more. Act One strives to make each session a memorable and rewarding experience for all involved, counsellors, parents, and most importantly, campers! Summer camp at Act One offers kids a chance to explore their imaginations and tell their own stories, through the creation of their own plays, puppet shows, short films and more. Campers will get to perform on a fully-equipped theatrical stage, complete with stage lights and computerized sound. Family and friends are invited on the last Friday of each session to watch their campers perform.
