This Winter, the Canadian Contemporary School of Art (CCSA) offers dynamic after-school and weekend art classes for kids and teens in a wide range of art forms and styles! CCSA runs in-person art classes at their studio in the East York/Leaside area of Toronto. In addition, there is also the option of joining Online Classes and a Special Needs Program, too.

The Canadian Contemporary School of Art has been trusted by Toronto families for more than 10 years in East York, in which time it has taught over 10,000 students! Here, creativity feels natural. With professional artist-instructors and small classes, CCSA ensures every child gets real attention. These art classes involve more than crafts — the school uses a structured, process-driven approach to art education that builds skills, confidence and independent thinking. Rather than simply following instructions, lessons focus on helping each student develop their own ideas. Each student receives high-quality instruction in a supportive environment. Not only do the artists develop skills through consistent practice and thoughtful guidance, but they also learn creative intention.

Kids and Teens Can Learn, Create, and Grow at the Canadian Contemporary School of Art’s Welcoming Studio!

Through structured, hands-on learning, the professional artist-instructors at CCSA help students develop strong artistic skills, creative thinking, and confidence in weekly art classes. Regardless of whether they are just beginning or they have already become interested in art and design, every lesson supports the young creators’ personal journey.

First, toddlers aged 1-3 begin developing their motor skills and creative intelligence; then kids aged 4-12 learn fundamental techniques through hands-on projects. Later on, teens aged 12-17 delve further into the artistic process, including receiving critiques and building their portfolio for specialized art schools and university program applications. Most importantly, each program gives young artists freedom to discover their individual interests so they can expand their creative voice.

In-Person Programs — Join the Canadian Contemporary School of Art for an exciting artistic experience this Winter at their welcoming East York space! There are numerous creative art classes for children and teens to choose from, including:

Online Programs — Don’t worry if you are unable to make it to the studio, because young artists can learn from anywhere! In CCSA’s live, instructor-led online classes, students can develop their skills from the comfort of home.

Toddler Art Club — The littlest artists can enjoy a sensory-rich curriculum with different creative areas to explore, including gardening, woodworking, painting, rhythmic games, and cooking. In this joyful environment, every session nurtures the toddlers’ cognitive development, emotional expression, and social confidence.

Special Needs Program — CCSA offers an inclusive art studio program for kids aged 4-12 with diverse abilities. Sessions are held in an inclusive, low-sensory space, taught by instructors who meet children where they are. Families can choose the Creative Connections class for one-on-one support, or the Creating Together program, where caregivers join in the fun. These programs celebrate the artists’ sense of connection, creativity, and shared moments that art can bring, rather than simply focusing on the finished artwork.
