Luminara Academy Summer Programs include topics such as holistic learning, adaptability, critical thinking, emotional intelligence, leadership and cultural understanding.

These lessons go beyond the classroom and offer engaging and hands-on learning that focuses on both practical skills and progressive mindsets. Luminara Academy’s programs cultivate collaboration and emphasize the ideas of teamwork and effective communication, which are both key competencies in today’s evolving digital world.

EQ-Led Leadership (Ages 13-18)

Date: July 8-12, 2024

For teens, the EQ-Led Leadership Program is a dynamic one-week course that helps young people 13-18 step into a leadership role. The program creates a well-rounded learning experience, combining the principles of Emotional Intelligence (EQ) with communication and teamwork. Throughout the week, topics also focus on the participants’ mindset and the shaping of one’s feelings and behaviours through the power of thought.

During this immersive week, participants focus on individual and group dynamics, effective relationship-building as well as conflict-resolution strategies. Participants learn to understand their emotional responses and those of others, which in turn helps them lead with empathy and understanding. Structured to encourage self-reflection and awareness, this course develops critical skills for aspiring leaders.

Foundational Skills For Pre-Teens (Ages 9-12)

Date: July 22-26, 2024

Luminara Academy’s Foundational Skills for Pre-Teens Program provides young people with a toolkit of skills to guide them through school, work and friendships! Through fun, interactive, and hands-on activities, this week-long adventure gives them vital life skills to last a lifetime. Through communication, teamwork, resilience and emotional literacy, your child can learn to confidently navigate the many complexities of growing up in our fast-paced world.

Activities include role-playing, team-based learning through practical scenarios, perspective-taking and reflections, indoor and outdoor team and mystery challenges and presentations, along with prizes to be won during the week.

Program Details

Each program includes:

  • An introduction to various core topics that support the high school or university journey
  • 12-15 indoor and outdoor activities by both individuals and teams that build on the understanding and application of the program topics
  • Up to three guest speakers per course, presenting expertise through workshops
  • Prizes and a takeaway toolkit that engages the participants and supports them in their growth and development
  • Supplied meals and snacks, with 30 menu items each week, including two items for morning snack, afternoon snack and lunch. Dessert, juice and water are also included.
