Discover the history of Fort York in the heart of downtown Toronto, hidden under the many towering condo buildings near the Gardiner Expressway. Fort York offers tours, exhibits, period settings, and seasonal demonstrations to educate and engage people of all ages. The Fort was used to house soldiers of the British Army and the Canadian militia in the 19th century, and is considered Toronto’s founding landscape.
The City of Toronto recently announced that their historical museums now have free admission! (Except for some exhibitions and events which may carry a separate charge.) This gives you a great reason to head a bit west in the downtown core and discover history at the Fort York National Historic Site.
