Toronto Circus Centre (TCC) summer camps are back for another year of circus fun! Young stars-in-training aged 4½ to 13 can jump, spin, fly, and laugh as they try different activities, build confidence and discover new physical and creative talents.
Is your little one ready to get busy clowning around? Here, campers can learn many different circus acts, such as aerial trapeze, hoop, rope, and silks. On the floor, they also get silly with juggling, floor and partner acrobatics, and clowning. You’ll be amazed at how many new skills your children can pick up in these weekly camps! Even better, TCC’s summer camps also include outdoor activities, such as garden play time and visits to splash pads (weather permitting). Don’t worry, campers will not miss out on the more traditional activities kids know and love about summer!
Of course, everyone is welcome, so there is no need to worry if your child does not have previous experience. TCC’s dedicated and experienced coaches, who are professional circus artists from all disciplines, can adjust their teaching to each child’s skill level to further their education. While new students learn the basics, more experienced junior acrobats can expand their circus repertoire.
TCC summer camps are the ideal non-competitive environment for junior circus stars to be physically active while having tons of fun! The experienced coaches share the joy of training up-and-coming circus stars, encouraging the kids to try every type of activity. With this method, campers can either diversify their interests during these immersive sessions or focus on the apparatus that suits them best. At the end of the week, family and friends have the chance to put on a circus performance, where the young performers display everything they’ve learned!
Toronto Circus Centre Summer Camp — Schedule Information
Do your kids want to experience life under the Big Top? Toronto Circus Centre (TCC) summer camps let kids aged 4½ to 13 spend their summer clowning around! At their renovated gym in Leaside, the aspiring acrobats can swing, climb, tumble, and juggle, all with plenty of time left for classic summer fun. All the kids play together in the same gymnasium, but for the students’ comfort level and skill advancement, TCC groups kids with other campers closest to their age range and skill level.
Through each weekly camp session, the groups work toward building a show. Then, the week’s lessons culminate in a free end-of-week performance for friends and family on Fridays at 4:00 PM. So, don’t miss out on seeing this inspiring and exhilarating event! The kids are always so proud to demonstrate what they have learned.
In addition, even with all these circus activities, the TCC counsellors make sure the kids still get plenty of fresh air. Weather permitting, the group heads outside every day to enjoy the summer in the adjoining garden for crafts and games. The camps include a fun-filled daily schedule, featuring extra indoor and outdoor activities, as well as snack times and a lunch break. Even better, TCC can also accommodate requests to group friends together. Therefore, kids can spend a memorable summer with their buddies and make new friends, too!
What to Pack
- Long pants, such as leggings or jogging pants, and a fitted top for safety. (Note: Long hair should also be tied back for safety reasons, and campers should not wear jewelry to camp.)
- Refillable/reusable water bottle, including a name tag
- Nut-free lunch, plus at least two snacks (Note: The campers get quite hungry, as the camp is physically demanding. So, it’s a good idea to pack more food than the kids would normally take to school.)
- Hat and swimsuit, for outings to the splash pad (optional)
- Sunscreen suitable for outdoor activities
Toronto Circus Centre Summer Camp — Details
TCC summer camps run full-day camps (9:00 AM – 4:00 PM) weekly throughout July and August. For families requiring extended hours, morning and afternoon sessions are both available, therefore supervision begins daily at 8:00 AM and ends at 5:00 PM.
Your child can join camp for just one week or register for multiple sessions, plus single-day options are also available upon request. Although the daily structure of the weekly camp program repeats, campers can learn new apparatus and tricks each week. Furthermore, some camp weeks may fill up, so TCC keeps a waitlist with no required deposit. In this case, parents will be notified if and when extra space becomes available.
