Parade, food, midway, food, food, camping, butterflies, food and food! There’s plenty of food, fun and flicks around town this weekend – read on for our Awesome Kid Friendly Activities To Do in Edmonton this Weekend, July 20-22, 2018. (Did we mention there’s food???)

1. K-Days Parade

Dancers, musicians, bands, balloons, mascots, cars, horses and of course, floats – the K-Days Parade is a can’t miss event in our city! The pre-parade starts at 9 am, and the big show goes at 10 am. Don’t forget – the route is new this year! Friday.

2. K-Days

It’s the midway-rodeo-music-fireworks-gaming-food-entertainment-fun extravaganza of the summer! K-Days kicks off Friday and runs through July 29! Friday, Saturday, Sunday.

3. Taste of Edmonton

Capital plaza is the place to be if you like food and fun! Taste of Edmonton lets you sample top culinary treats from Edmonton’s best restaurants and food trucks. If you’re going with little ones, be sure to check out Taste 4 Kids too! Friday, Saturday, Sunday.

4. Muttart After Dark Family Night

Visit the Muttart Conservatory Friday evening for a special Family Edition of their After Dark series. Check out the new Lost in Space feature pyramid, and get a special viewing of the Museum of the Moon! Friday.

5. ‘That’s Entertainment’ Weekend at Fort Edmonton Park

Show off your moves on the dance floor, join the Glee Club, get in on a game, or try your hand at arts and crafts projects! Entertainment from days of yore is the theme at Fort Edmonton Park all weekend! Saturday, Sunday.

6. Parks Day at Elk Island National Park

Get out! Outside, that is. Enjoy Parks Day at Elk Island National Park. Pack a picnic, jump in a canoe, or take in the Learn to Camp workshop, and enjoy the great outdoors! Saturday.

7. Butterfly Day 

Visit the U of A Botanic Garden and enjoy all things bug and butterfly related. There are activities and crafts for the whole family. Don’t forget to wear your best wings! Sunday.

8. Cabela’s Family Summer Camp

Enjoy free games, activities and short workshops all aimed at helping your family get out and enjoy nature all summer long! Saturday, Sunday.

9. Sunny Summer Fair

Visit Rutherford House Provincial Historic Site for this old fashioned country fair complete with games, crafts, music and tasty treats! Sunday.

10. Stars and Cars

Meet the first responder heroes of your community and check out some amazing classic cars! (Don’t miss the face paint and bouncy castles too!) Saturday.

11. Edmonton Carnaval

Your hips won’t lie when the latin music, food and fun takes hold at the Edmonton Carnaval – a free family party with something for everyone! Friday, Saturday, Sunday.

12. Movies! 

Catch an Outdoor Movie (Pitch Perfect 3) at South Terwillegar Spray Park, take the whole family to the Cineplex Family Favourite (The Greatest Showman) or take kids 12 and under for free admission to the Reel Family Cinema movies (Spy Kids) at Metro Cinema. Saturday.
