Word must be out that Summer is almost over – this weekend is straight up PACKED with FUN! Here’s our list of Awesome Kid Friendly Activities To Do in Edmonton This Weekend, August 23-25, 2019.

1. Lemonade Stand Day

Talk about a sweet way to help out! On Sunday, kids all over Edmonton and area will set up lemonade stands to raise money to support the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation. Buy a beverage and support your young local philanthropists! Sunday.

2. Kites Over Callingwood

From the pancake breakfast in the morning to the fireworks at night, Saturday promises to be a full day of fun in Callingwood. The star of the show, of course, is the afternoon kite party in the park! Saturday.

3. Open Streets

It’s the first festival of its kind in our city! Paths for People is shutting down Jasper Avenue on Sunday for a street party like no other. Enjoy a bike parade, games, fitness classes, live music, food trucks and more! Sunday. 

4. Edmonton’s Water Gun Party

Kids and adults alike are invited to grab a bright, colourful water gun and join the fun at the first-ever Edmonton Water Gun Party! Saturday.

5. Harry Potter Movie Marathon

Go BIG or go home! From August 22 to September 1, the TELUS World of Science – Edmonton is giving you the chance to see all 8 Harry Potter movies on Alberta’s largest theatre screen! Friday, Saturday, Sunday.

6. Fringe!

You have one final weekend to enjoy all the theatrics, street performances and FUN that Fringe has to offer! Visiting with youngsters? Don’t miss KidsFringe! Friday, Saturday, Sunday.

7. Sesame Street Meet & Greet

Don’t look now, but MONSTERS are invading Bonnie Doon Centre – Thank goodness they’re friendly! Catch Elmo and Cookie Monster at this special FREE meet and greet event. Saturday.

8. Peppa Pig Meet & Greet

IndigoKids is hosting a special storytime, and meet and greet, featuring that fine swine, Peppa Pig! Registrants even take home a new book. Friday.

9. Beaumont Rural Roots Fair

Enjoy a weekend of country fun at the Beaumont Rural Roots Fair! Pony rides, wagon rides, a petting zoo, crafts, a market and more! Admission, parking and many activities are FREE. Saturday, Sunday.

10. Manning Fun Fair

Check out performances, balloon twisters, face painters, and even FREE mini donuts at the Manning Fun Fair at Manning Town Centre! Saturday.

11. All-Day Sundays

Each month, the Art Gallery of Alberta hosts All-Day Sundays, a special chance for families to visit the galleries and work together on some art of their own! Bonus – kids always get in FREE to the Gallery. Sunday.

12. Animal Mythbusters 

Just how much do you know about the animal kingdom? Try game shows, experiments, a scavenger hunt and crafts in this interactive day of fun at the Valley Zoo! Sunday.

13. Free Family Skate

River Cree Sports is hosting their annual FREE Back to School skate. Bring your family, skates and helmet and hit the ice! Sunday. 

14. Kids’ Day Out at the Melting Pot

Once a month, the Melting Pot hosts a special Sunday event just for kids! This month, enjoy cheese fondue, chocolate fondue and Western-themed activities. Sunday.

15. Sunday Funday at Total Focus Northgate

Each Sunday until September 1, enjoy kids’ activities at Total Focus Northgate. August 25 offers FREE glitter tattoos! You can also take advantage of the back to school special on kids’ glasses (2 for $99!) and enter a prize draw! Sunday.

16. Movies!

If there’s one thing Edmontonians love, it’s Outdoor Movies! This week there are at least SIX of them on Friday and Saturday! See them all HERE. Friday, Saturday.

Saturday also offers a special Sensory-Friendly screening of Turtle Odyssey in the IMAX Theatre at the TELUS World of Science Edmonton. Saturday.

Saturday morning Family Favourites are back at Cineplex Theatres this week! This week you can see The Dark Crystal for just $2.99 per ticket! Saturday.
