Visit the U of A Botanic Garden on weekends from January 29 to March 13, 2022 to enjoy some All-Canadian Winter fun! Embrace the cold weather and fresh air as your family enjoys classic Canadian outdoor activities in the snow. Afterwards, warm up with a hot chocolate by the fire in this picturesque setting.

Your admission will include:

  • Admission to the beautiful winter garden
  • Kick sledding – try out this fun family sport on one of our sleds
  • Snowshoeing (snowshoes available at the Garden)
  • The chance to try cabane a sucre (maple taffy)
  • A hockey puck shoot
  • Snowball toss
  • Live music in the Kurimoto Japanese Garden (12-4 pm)
  • Delicious hot chocolate by the fire
  • Snacks and beverages for purchase from the The Patio Cafe

Talking Rock Snowshoe Tours

January 29 & February 26 | 11:30 am, 1:30 pm and 3:30 pm

Join a 1.5 hour guided snowshoe trek with Métis geologist and tour guide Join Keith Diakiw. This geo-adventure will take you through the Alpine and Indigenous gardens and into the old growth forest where you will learn about the Métis people. Tour size is limited to 10 people and cost is $30 (including admission to the Garden). Advance registration required when you purchase your admission ticket.

Ice Carving Lessons

February 12, 13, 19 & 20, 2022 | 15 minute time slots between noon and 4:30 pm

Ice on Whyte is bringing their Lil Chippers program to the gardens! Children of all ages can create their own ice carving to take home – all hands-on instruction, safety gear and carving tools will be supplied! Cost is just $5 per participant and will need to be booked in advance when purchasing your admission ticket.

Dog Days at the Garden

March 12 & 13, 2022 | Free demonstrations at 12:30 pm & 2:30 pm

Dog Days are the opportunity to allow your well behaved and leashed dog come sniff and explore the U of A Botanic Gardens. During these special days, you can enjoy a stroll with your favourite four-legged friend and watch a free demonstration from the talented dogs from Dynamo Dog Sport Allstar Entertainment Group. Even if you are not a pet owner, everyone is welcome to come share the gardens with the dogs!

Tickets to all dates and events can be booked online. Just choose the date that works for you and any additional programming you want to add.
