Cornfest at the Marketplace at Callingwood
Get your corn on at the Callingwood Cornfest! Celebrate the corn harvest on September 9th at the 19th Annual Callingwood Cornfest in support of the Firefighters’ Burn Treatment Society. What fun will you get up to first?
The annual festival takes place in the covered courtyard and adjacent parking lot at the Marketplace at Callingwood (near Safeway) and is an afternoon full of fun for all ages. To help raise money for the Firefighters’ Burn Treatment Society, tickets will be sold for one dollar each and can be used at a variety of stations you will love. Each activity costs between 1 and 5 tickets.
The activities include:
- Fire truck tours with the Edmonton Firefighters
- Petting zoo
- Pony rides
- Hay rides in the parking lot (pickup location in the courtyard entrance near Callingwood Professional Centre, 6650-177St.)
- Bouncy castles
- 50/50 Raffle
Plus a lot more, including a concession stand selling refreshments and hotdogs, and (sold by donation) the star of the show: hot buttered corn!
The Marketplace at Callingwood loves hosting this festival each year, and is thrilled to invite the community to support the amazing work of the Firefighters’ Burn Treatment Society. The society works with the Firefighters’ Burn Unit, which treats approximately 200 burn victims each year, including children who have been burned or scalded, and firefighters who have been injured on the job. The Society also helps fund research and development, specialized equipment and training, and the Alberta Fire Fighters’ Burn Camp for Children–a camp where young burn victims can spend time in nature with others who understand their unique situation and needs.
