Steamoji is proud to offer structured after-school STEM programs for young apprentices from ages 5 to 14. Their 400 hour Build to Solve™ curriculum aims to complement and enrich your child’s school studies, while providing a multitude of opportunities for problem solving and self discovery. Your child will get to use a wide range of technology in the well-equipped maker academy, and have the opportunity to develop exciting new skills under the helpful guidance of Steamoji facilitators.

Steamoji Maker Academy (Family Fun Edmonton)Oji Junior | Ages 5-6

The youngest apprentices will love this hands-on introduction to STEM, with a curriculum tailored to their small hands and big imaginations. Kids ages 5-6 can explore computing, building, art, and more as they prepare to level up to the Build to Solve® program.

Build to Solve® | Ages 6-14

Steamoji’s core after-school STEM program follows the 400-hour Build to Solve® curriculum. Apprentices from 6 to 14 can work their way through a series of missions as they gain experience in coding, robotics, digital art, 3D design, and other technical skills. These fun and engaging projects include all materials and instruction needed to help guide them across the 4 subject pathways:

  • Fabrication using machines like Laser Cutter and 3D Printers
  • Physical Computing to develop skills in Coding and Robotics
  • Engineering to understand of how things work through Physics and Mechanics
  • Digital Arts including everything from Photo and Video editing, Animation, Storytelling, and more

Steamoji has 10 achievement levels. Students can work through a series of missions to move from Tinkerer up to Master Maker over the course of the 5 year program. A typical session at Steamoji will see apprentices following short video clips at their work station as they work with various technology to complete a project. Throughout the process, facilitators will check in to help overcome obstacles and enforce key concepts. Apprentices will also be encouraged to further their learning and interests with self-directed or collaborative projects.

Standard membership at Steamoji includes full access to the Steamoji Academy, including all technology, equipment, and project materials. Members will enjoy a flexible booking schedule and access to the parent app to stay up-to-date on your child’s projects and progress. Students can book 2-3 sessions per week, for a total of up to 12 hours per month.
