The Annual Halifax Pride Festival boasts some of the best events in the city with TONS of events for kids and families. This 10-day long festival hosts events for all ages, including lots of FREE events! Here are some of our favourites for kids and youth. DIY Tye Dye Party

TD Block Party

When: Thursday July 14, 2022
Time: 5:30 pm – 8:00 pm
Where: Argyle Street, Halifax

The community is invited to join in the fun at this FREE event to kick off the Pride festival! A section of Argyle Street will be closed to celebrate Halifax Pride with all kinds of block party fun – games, photo booth, snacks and crafts!

Bike Party

When: Friday, July 15
Time: 5:30 – 7:30
Where: Halifax Common North Park and Cogswell

Enjoy a bike ride but make it a party, with music and a lot of glitter!

Where: Garrison Grounds

Make new friends at this interesting Speedfriending event!  Participants will be divided into groups by age – adults (19 and over), high school (15-18), and middle school (12-14). Within these groups, participants will have an opportunity to socialise one-on-one with a variety of folks for short periods of time. Following Speedfriending, be sure to stick around for the Rainbow Refugees BBQ.

Halifax Pride Parade

Join annual Halifax Pride Parade and dance in the streets!

Youth Hangout

When: Thursday July 18th, 2022
Time: 4:30 pm – 6:00 pm

Meet at the festival site for an afternoon of celebration and fun at this closed space for youth 19 and under.

 Youth Queer Prom

When: Wednesday, July 20, 2022
Time: 9:00 – 11:00pm
Where: Garrison Grounds

Queer Prom is a dance event open to 2SLGBTQIA+ youth ages 19 and under. It’s a space focused on queer identified youth to be themselves, and dance the night away! In addition to a dance area, there will be an area for you to hang out and socialize with your friends!

The Rainbow-Palooza Family Pride Picnic

When: Saturday, July 23, 2022
Time: 2:00 – 5:00
Where: Acadia Park

This accessible all-ages gathering is for families with LGBTQ2SI+ parents/caretakers, kids, or both – allies are welcome! Bring your picnic blanket, chairs, and snacks and come meet queer and trans families from across the HRM and beyond.

Youth Pride Picnic in The Park

Where: 61 Dundas (outside Christ Church) in downtown Dartmouth

Join the MacPhee Centre for Creative Learning for a youth-focused picnic in the park open to the whole family! Get ready for food, fun, and friends!
