The annual Halifax Pride Festival takes place from July 16 to 26, 2026. This festival amplifies the voices of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and provides an opportunity for them to come together and celebrate each summer in Kjipuktuk/Halifax. Although many events are for ages 19+, there will also be all-ages events suitable for children and families happening around the city.
What Activities Can You Attend As a Family?
The hugely popular Pride Parade takes place on Saturday, July 18th, starting at noon and travelling around Downtown Halifax. Find info on the Pride Parade here. There is also Family Day on Sunday, July 19th, from 1 -4 PM at Garrison Grounds. There will be bouncy castles, face painting, drag storytime, theatre performance and more!
Other family-friendly activities throughout the 11-day celebration include a Family Swim on Tuesday, July 21st, at 6 PM and Dartmouth Family Picnic on Sunday, July 26th, at the Dartmouth Common Oven from noon to 2 PM – come for a delicious pizza-making party, supplies included! See the full schedule on the festival’s website.
Don’t forget to check out more great events at the Halifax Public Libraries in celebration of Pride 2026. Events and activities include a parade, puppet shows, 2SLGBTQIA+ suggested reading lists and more.
