My son just had his 9th birthday. I love planning his parties and try to make them truly unique. A Party-Bots Birthday Party gave us just what we wanted: a unique party idea, fun for all ages, a party room, and best of all: Battling Bots! We were first introduced to Party-Bots in September at the Fireworks Festival. My son got to try out the BattleBots and has been talking about a Party-Bot Birthday for the past 9 months. Thanks to everyone at Party-Bots for making his dream come true. If you’ve never been to Party-Bots, it is the Saskatoon-based FingerTech Robotics event division. They do birthday parties, workshops and corporate events.

They offer two different birthday party options. A Battle Party with 10 fun-themed robots where kids can compete in friendly battles. It’s a private and personalized party setting complete with a party room for treats and cake. This is recommended for up to 12 kids ages 8 and up and parents can choose between a 2-hour party or a 3-hour party.  The Build and Battle Party is a 3-hour party where kids get to build a robot with the Robot Master. Recommended for ages 10 and up, kids get to learn how the combat robot works, customize the robot and compete in battles.

The Arena

We chose the 2-hour Battle Party and it started with rules (of course) and the kids could ask questions and choose nicknames for the battle. They were split up into teams and then started the competition. All the kids got a chance to try out the different kind of robots they had. Some of the amazing bots were The Grand Slam, Destruction Zone, the Banana Splitter, and High Five. They all had unique designs and different ways to battle.

The Grand Slam

Each team rotated the members so each kid got a lot of chances to battle and they had a competition to see which bot would be the winner.

The Score Board

They kept track of which team and which bot was winning. In the end, both teams were winners because one team won the most battles and the other team had the winning bot. They all did amazing and had a blast (although one team was decidedly louder than the other team.)

The Party Room

The party room was just off the battle area and came with plates, cups, and all the things you may forget on your way to the party. We kept it simple with a veggie and fruit tray and robot-themed cupcakes. My son and I made some marshmallow robots to set on top before the party and I spent the entire car ride over trying to get them to stay on the cupcakes. (Which is why I don’t have a photo of them in the party room.)

Back to the battle

After the food, the kids went right back into battle mode. They all got to play at the same time and had SO MUCH FUN. All the remotes were hung around the kid’s necks which is very important with all the bouncing around they do. It was very hard to get a photo of my son where he wasn’t blurry because he moved around so much.

My turn!

They also let some of the ‘big kids’ try it out at the end. It was all good until my son told everybody to gang up against me! We all had a great time though. The feedback from the party guests was very positive and two of the guests told their mom “It was the best birthday party they’d ever been to!” I agree. I don’t know how we’re going to beat it next year.
