Make Calaway Park your family Playcation Destination this summer! As Western Canada’s Largest Outdoor Family Amusement Park, this popular Calgary summer attraction has been providing joy, excitement and family memories in Alberta for over four decades. I have many of my own fond memories from visiting as a child, and now that I am grown I love taking my own kids for a day of amusement park fun together!
While the 32 different rides are the main attraction at Calaway Park, they are by no means the only thing to look forward to. Our family loves that we can spend the day enjoying a mix of entertainment including 19 carnival games, live shows, mini golf, a maze, the Cinemagic 3D Theatre and the Haunted Hotel. There is truly something for everyone!
Our ideal Calaway Park Day usually involves sunshine and a bit of heat. On hot days nothing feels better then being splashed by cool water as you ride down the Timber Falls log ride, or getting sprayed by the Bumper Boats! For younger kids, Calaway Park also offers the CP Spray n’ Play splash park area to splash around in and cool off when you are needing a break from the rides.
An ice cream cone or frozen treat is another of our favourite ways to cool down on a sunny day and lucky for us there are lots of great options between the 20 different food locations in the park. Everyone’s tastes will be satisfied with the choice of soft serve ice cream, hard ice cream, Mini Melts, sno cones, and slushies! Plus enjoy all your other favourite fair foods like pizza, burgers, corn dogs, churros, mini donuts, popcorn, cotton candy, Beaver Tails, and more.
What’s New in 2025?
🍔 Bring your appetite to enjoy a delicious family meal at the new Riptide Grill! Located right beside the Ocean Motion, it is the perfect spot to relax and refuel with a front-row view of the action. And make sure you save room for dessert at the brand-new Tasty Treats next door, serving up cool summer favourites like Dole Soft Serve.
💦 Ready! Aim! Fire! at the new Water Wars attraction. Prepare to get a little bit wet as you enjoy a friendly water balloon battle with family and friends.
🎶 On stage, Calaway Live will debut two all-new stage shows on June 21, 2025. Gimme That Sunshine is a high energy show celebrating sunny days through music, dancing, and unexpected laughs. Welcome to Tunestown will bring good times for the whole family with 20 minutes of the music you love. Catch both shows on the Celebration Square Stage, along with a full schedule of circus acts, magic shows, dancers and other captivating performers throughout the Summer.
🎮 Finally, this year’s featured film in the Cinemagic 3D Theatre is Happy Family – Next Level 3D! The game is on as parents and children work together to find their way out of the video-game universe they are trapped in. Sit back in the air-conditioned theatre to enjoy this whirlwind adventure!
A trip to Calaway Park can be done as a daytrip from Edmonton, but our family prefers to make a full weekend of it when we are travelling all those miles. A stay at a partner hotel or the Calaway RV Park and Campground are both great options for planning an overnight visit to Calgary. We love that the Calaway RV Park and Campground offers 104 sites and a view of the mountains, and is just a short walk from the park gates. They even have care for your furry family members covered with an on-site kennel to check into while you enjoy your day in the park!
