The Canadian Energy Museum invites you to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of Leduc No. 1 rig striking oil in Alberta. Plan your visit to the historic site on June 18, 2022 for a full day of family fun including special events, activities and exhibits. It will be a day focused on commemorating that landmark moment oil was first discovered in the area.

Come check out the original Leduc No. 1 rig, discover the history of oil gas in our province and learn about renewable energy trends as we move towards the future. Special events of the day will include a premiere viewing of a documentary about the Leduc No. 1 oil strike and a flag raising in the morning with Indigenous groups to recognize the impact of oil and gas on communities in the area.
