This holiday season, we are thrilled to see several local Greenhouses adding to the Christmas magic with special Events and seasonal activities. From Santa photos and sleigh rides to scavenger hunts and grouchy visits with the Grinch, there is something fun for everyone!
Local greenhouses and nurseries are some of the best spots to find Holiday Cheer! Growing up, I loved when my mom would take us to admire the beautifully decorated Christmas trees and enjoy the rich smells of pine and holly in the air.

Classic Gardens Acorn Festival
November 24 | Celebrate the Season with Classic Gardens during their free Acorn Festival! Enjoy sweet sounds from local choirs, visits with Santa and the Grinch, glitter tattoos, face painting, make-and-take projects, pony rides, and festive treats like hot chocolate and popcorn.
A Holly Jolly Holiday with Santa at Salisbury Greenhouse
November 25 & 26 | Things will be extra festive at both Salisbury Greenhouse Locations during the Holly Jolly Holiday with Santa! Visit Sherwood Park on November 25 or St. Albert on November 26 for photos with Santa ($10 per family first come, first serve), grumpy fun with The Grinch, caroling from the Alberta Northern Lights Chorus, fun with Mrs. Claus, letters to Santa, glitter tattoos, free colouring books, and an extra special holiday scavenger hunt with prizes!
Find Santa on the Kiwi Nurseries Christmas Trail
December 2, 9 & 16 | Kiwi Nurseries invites you to come discover their snow-covered trails and enjoy an outdoor visit with Santa in his sleigh! Book your tickets ahead for just $10/child and look forward to fun interactions with colorful Christmas characters, hot chocolate, and a take-home craft. Don’t forget your phone or camera to snap your own photos!
Family Day at Creekside Home and Garden
December 2 | Meet Santa, take a horse-drawn wagon ride, and pick out a fresh-cut tree during Family Day at Creekside Home and Garden. This family-operated Greenhouse in West Edmonton is the perfect spot to shop for all your Christmas decorating needs!
Greenland Garden Centre County Christmas
December 3 | This holiday event in support of the Strathcona Christmas Bureau will include hay rides, kid’s crafts, face painting, cookie decorating, a marshmallow roast, and SANTA! (Some activities by Loonie and Toonie donation).
Greenland Garden Centre Lights in The Park
November 12 – January 1 | The botanical garden at Greenland Garden Centre has been transformed into a magical Christmas display straight out of the movie Elf – complete with narwhals and polar bears! Get ready for several great photo ops as you walk through the colorful light tunnels, play on the glow swings and teeter totters, and find shimmering animal friends along the way. Bring your donation for the Strathcona Christmas Bureau and Salvation Army and come explore the pathways and shimmering lights during Lights in the Park.
Salisbury Greenhouse Scavenger Hunt
Ongoing| Did you know both Salisbury Greenhouse locations have a new and different scavenger hunt for the kids each month? Grab the hunt sheet from the front checkout and have fun searching for the hidden images throughout the greenhouse! Once completed, kids are invited to turn their hunt sheet in for a FREE 2.5″ herb plant to bring home. We hear there is even going to be an EXTRA special holiday hunt during the above listed Holly Jolly Holiday with Santa events.
