Every BLIZZARD Treat purchase on that day will be donated to the Canadian Children’s Miracle Network in support of local hospital foundations. In Edmonton and area, all proceeds from participating restaurants will directly benefit the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation.
More then 10 million sick and injured kids visit a Children’s Miracle Network member hospital each year. The cause is near and dear to my heart as my own son has spent a handful of nights at the Stollery between bouts of croup and broken arms. (Yes, twice!) With the first broken arm we went to the nearest hospital and quickly learned that with kids it is just best to head to the experts at the Stollery Children’s Hospital.
A stay at the hospital can be quite traumatic and we were thankful for the extra care and attention provided at the Stollery. We were lucky to have quick surgery times and short overnight stays, but that is not always the case. I found our hospital experience to be very humbling as I walked the halls and saw babies in cribs hooked up to several machines, or listened to my son’s young roommate discuss her long battle with cancer.
I am so thankful to be in a city where a world class children’s hospital is readily available. If something as simple as purchasing a DQ ice cream treat on October 28 can help contribute to helping keep sick kids comfortable and well cared for, I am happy to take part! The only dilemma now is which BLIZZARD flavour should I choose?
