Time travelers of all ages will have a blast from the past – from discovering what games and toys pioneer children played with, cooking vintage recipes over an open fire, and building a working travois!

Fort Edmonton Park Summer Day Camps

Kids can make lifetime memories with new friends as they explore 4 eras of Edmonton’s history, including the award-winning Indigenous Peoples Experience exhibit. Campers will learn about the first people to traverse this land, what it was like to be a voyageur in the fur trade era, all about Christmas traditions of the past, how kids used to make their own fun and so much more. There are 8 unique and immersive themes to discover!

Fort Edmonton Park Summer Day Camps

Fort Edmonton Park offers weeklong camps for kids aged 6 through 12. Camps run from 9 am to 4 pm Monday to Friday, with the option to add on an additional hour of Pre-Camp and/or Post-Camp Care for a set fee. Many of the camps run several times through July and August, so be sure to check the website to find the weeks that work best for you!

Program Options

Summertime Christmas | Ages 6-9
Have a jolly good time exploring early Christmas traditions and learning about holiday customs from around the world. Activities include baking festive treats like gingerbread and cocoa, creating stockings to hang by the chimney, and making old-fashion toys.
Pursuit of Play | Ages 6-9
Learn how kids made their own fun before we had screens! Activities include games, sports, crafts, picnics, and time on the midway.
Mrs. Egge’s Kitchen Kids | Ages 6-12 (Junior) | Ages 10-12 (Senior)
Spend the week learning the secrets of home cooking on a wood-burning stove from Mrs.Egge.  Activities for older bakers can include baking cakes, pies, and cookies and sewing their very own apron!
History Whodunit! | Ages 7-10
Bring your super sleuthing skills to solve a historical who-dunnit. Junior historians will make their own detective tools, crack codes, interview characters from Edmonton’s past and track everything in a top secret file.
Adventure at the Fort | Ages 7-12
Travel back in time to 1846 and live the life of a fur trading Voyageur. Activities include building a travois, tracking animals, playing Indigenous games and creating traditional art with onsite cultural experts.
Edmonton Explorers | Ages 8-11
Make your way through Edmonton’s history as you explore Fort Edmonton Park. As campers travel through time they will learn about indigenous culture, play traditional games, build turn-of-the-century toys and learn some new dance moves.
Our Land, Our Stories | Ages 8-11
Explore how nature connects the world and the people around us. Stationed primarily out of the Indigenous Peoples Experience, this camp is filled with exciting land-based activities aimed at teaching how the living natural world is foundational to the First Nations, Inuit and Métis way of life.
Voyageur Adventures | Ages 10-12
Learn what it was like to live the life of an early voyageur! Campers will get to explore the 1846 Fort, create traditional art under the guidance of cultural experts, and learn more about the relationship between settlers and Indigenous peoples. The week will also include a trip to the John Janzen Nature Centre to learn more about animals through the tracks and traces they leave behind.
