Learn camping basics and develop skills to enjoy nature and the outdoors safely with the Parks Canada Learn-to Camp Program this summer. With a variety of locations in Edmonton and the surrounding areas, as well as virtual programming, learning is easy and accessible.

🌲 Edmonton Valley Zoo Amphitheatre | July 4, 5, 11, 12 & August 9, 2026

Learn about birds, bears, and how to protect Canada’s native wildlife with these interactive weekend programs (included with regular zoo admission). Showtimes are at 11 am, 12 pm and 1 pm.

🏕️ Elk Island National Park | July 18, July 25-26, & August 1-2, 2026

Try a family-friendly overnight Learn-to Camp Experience to learn the fundamentals of camping outdoors, such as pitching a tent and building a campfire. There is also a public drop-in on July 18 from 10 am to 4 pm for Parks Day!

🌲 Fort Saskatchewan Library | July 30, 2026

Learn about birdwatching and local bird species in this beginner-friendly workshop. This program runs from 1-1:45 pm.

🏕️ Spruce Grove Public Library | July 9 & 16, 2026

Get your child ready for the outdoors with Camping with Babies & Toddlers on July 9, or learn about protecting Canadian wildlife with Wild for Wildlife on July 16, 2026.
