The overlying philosophy at Prescolaire des Petites Etoiles is that children learn best through play! Each day is filled with plenty of opportunities to explore, wonder, discover, and ignite a love for learning. Guided by a Flight Curriculum that centers around broad holistic play-based goals rather then specific learning outcomes, the goal is to nurture children’s natural disposition to learn. Students will be encouraged to make sense of the world around them through embracing everyday experiences and interpreting through play, paticipation and possibilities.
Naturally, the team behind Petites Etoiles believes that the introduction of a second language is beneficial to a child’s early learning and development. They seek to provide an exceptional preschool experience alongside a gentle introduction to the French language. Classes are conducted in both English and French, with the French language and vocabulary integrated through basic phrases, the alphabet, numbers, and songs. This dedicated team of teachers makes learning a new language fun and exciting!
A typical day of preschool at Petites Etoiles includes morning routine, reading, table activities, centres, circle time, music and movement, and opportunities for outdoor play at the onsite playground. Children will also need to bring their own packed snacks and water to enjoy during healthy snack time.
Prescolaire des Petites Etoiles is proud to be a parent-operated not-for-profit organization. There is a strong sense of community within the classroom and parent body that serves to support and strengthen the care and learning of all children. Since 1987, Petites Etoiles has provided a fantastic introductory foundation to the French language, with many of their young students continuing on to attend French immersion education.
