Bruderheim Cosmic Park

Just 50 minutes northeast of Edmonton, the small community of Bruderheim is home to one of Canada’s most fascinating meteorite stories. In 1960, the famous Bruderheim Meteorite fell just north of town, becoming the largest recovered meteorite fall in Canadian history. More than 700 fragments were discovered, with a combined weight of approximately 660 pounds. While many pieces are now housed in museums and universities around the world, one fragment remains right in Bruderheim at the Fire Hall.
Inspired by this incredible piece of Canadian space history, Bruderheim Cosmic Park offers families a chance to explore a space-themed playground, adjoining skatepark, and plenty of open green space for kids to burn off energy. Pack a picnic, let the little astronauts explore, and then make time to visit the Bruderheim meteorite display. If you’d like to see the meteorite fragment, call the Bruderheim Fire Hall ahead of time at 780-796-3731 to confirm someone is available to show it.

🚀 Inglewood Rocketship Playground

Blast off without leaving Edmonton at the Inglewood Rocketship Playground! This fun space-themed park gives kids the chance to climb aboard a rocket ship, explore, and let their imaginations take flight. With plenty of room to play, it’s a great stop for families looking to add a little adventure to their day.
Best of all, it’s just a 5-minute drive from TELUS World of Science–Edmonton, making it easy to turn your outing into a full space-themed adventure. (Please note: TELUS World of Science–Edmonton is currently closed due to flooding and is expected to reopen in November 2026.)

Located about 45 minutes south of Edmonton, the Sacred Heart School Spaceship Playground is well worth the drive. The giant rocket ship is the centrepiece of this impressive playground, offering plenty of opportunities for climbing, sliding, and imaginative adventures. With play features suitable for both younger children and older kids, it’s a fantastic stop for families with children of different ages.
Make a full day of your trip to Wetaskiwin by visiting the nearby Manluk Playground and Splash Park beside the Manluk Regional Aquatics and Fitness Centre, or exploring the fascinating exhibits at the Reynolds Museum.

This classic playground may be a little older, but it’s a beloved community favourite in Camrose and one of the most unique space-themed playgrounds we’ve discovered. Kids can climb aboard the spaceship, explore, and imagine themselves travelling through the galaxy.
While you’re in town, be sure to add the Camrose Heritage Railway Station & Park to your itinerary for even more free family fun, complete with historic trains, beautiful green space, and plenty to explore!

👽 Bonus: Turn Your Space Playground Adventure Into A Road Trip!
If your family is looking for even more space-themed fun, pack up the car and head to St. Paul, Alberta for an unforgettable mini road trip!
Located about three hours northeast of Edmonton, St. Paul is home to some truly unique family attractions, starting with Lagasse Park. This beautiful lakeside park features multiple playgrounds, scenic walking trails, plenty of green space, and a vibrant space-themed splash park that’s perfect for cooling down on a summer day.

But the fun doesn’t stop there! St. Paul is also home to the world’s first official UFO Landing Pad, built in 1967 as part of Canada’s centennial celebrations. The unique roadside attraction was created using stones collected from every province and territory, making it a one-of-a-kind piece of Canadian history. While you’re there, explore the nearby visitor centre and museum and view UFO photographs and crop circle exhibits. There’s even a dedicated UFO Hotline where the public can report unusual sightings!
