The winter months are stacked with fun outdoor events in neighbourhoods throughout the city! We have rounded up several fun winter celebrations being hosted by Community Leagues around Edmonton, with plenty more to be added in the upcoming weeks. Mark your calendar and get out to enjoy the sleigh rides, skating, crafts, and more at each of these fun events.
Note: Many of these require a valid Community League membership for some of the activities like sleigh rides or free treats. Please check the event post carefully.
Winter Celebrations
Rosslyn Community League Family Winterfest
January 17 | Bring your family to Rosslyn Community League for an afternoon of marshmallow roasting, sleigh rides, sledding, skating, hot drinks, and tasty treats!
Winter Wonderland at Hairsine Community League
January 17 | Join the Hairsine Community League for a free Winter Wonderland celebration, featuring sledding, snowshoeing, hot cocoa, bannock on a stick, a maple sugar shack, and more!
FREE Outdoor Skate with the Edmonton Oil Kings
January 23 | Strap on your skates at the Chapelle Gardens Residents Association and enjoy a skate with the Edmonton Oil Kings! This FREE event is open to everyone and will kick off with a card signing at 5:00 pm.
Hazeldean Lantern Parade
January 24 | Get ready to light up the neighbourhood with the Hazeldean Community League. Bring an empty 2L bottle, milk jug, or any clear container to the hall to create your own lantern, then join in an evening stroll through the community. Hot chocolate, apple cider, and donuts will be provided!
Family Day Fireworks in Meadowlark
February 15 | Enjoy winter fun at the 25th annual Family Day Fireworks Celebration in Meadowlark. It all kicks off at 4:00 PM with horse-drawn sleigh rides, skating, crafts, fire pits, and a fireworks show at 7:00 PM!
Family Day Cardboard Cup Sled Race
February 16 | Take part in the 2nd Annual Family Day Cardboard Cup Sled Race at the South Clareview Community League. Build your own sled at home, and then race it for the chance at fun prizes!
Family Day at Calder Community League
February 16 | Take part in the Family Day celebration at Calder Community League, and enjoy sleigh rides, snowshoeing, fire pits, roasting hot dogs and marshmallows, hot chocolate, and lots of family fun and community spirit!
Family Fun Day Extravaganza
February 16 | Celebrate Family Fun Day Extravaganza with the Millhurst Community League. This free event includes kick sledding, snowshoeing, hot chocolate, chilli, sleigh rides, igloo making, and more!
