It is Alberta’s premier writing camp! For 30 years, YouthWrite Summer Camp has been known as the camp for kids who love to write… just about anything! This one-of-a-kind, immersive experience offers aspiring Alberta writers the ideal environment to spark creativity and feed the passion for putting pen to paper.
YouthWrite Summer Camp brings together a host of talented, professional instructors and mentor writers to create a multi-disciplinary approach to creative writing. Each day will cover a range of topics, including performance, visual, musical, dance, film and written arts. YouthWrite is an inclusive and diverse camp, and organizers make a point of reaching out to participants who may be marginalized because of race, gender, sexual orientation, religion or financial circumstances.
It may sound serious and scholarly, but make no mistake – YouthWrite Camps are all about fun! Participants are encouraged to enjoy exploring their craft in a safe place where artistic and creative risks are supported. Instructors and staff work hard to make participants, new and returning, feel welcome and valued. Everyone has a voice at YouthWrite!
For summer 2026, YouthWrite is offering a weeklong Highlands Experience from June 28 to July 3. Camp runs daily from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM, with the option to extend the fun with a late night at camp on Thursday.
