Words, stories, and books. Of course, these are valuable assets for everyone. But there are some people who cherish books and stories and treasure the power of words like it’s their life breath. If you have a young writer in your household, you know what I’m talking about and you need to know about YouthWrite Summer Camps!
YouthWrite Summer Camps are about wordplay, writing, and creative expression. Participants will learn the craft of writing, not only the mechanics of language but also the power of a story, and will have fun doing it! Instructors and supervisory staff work hard to create a safe, welcoming space for new and returning participants where kids are free to take artistic and creative risks while they find their voice.
Of course, YouthWrite Summer Camps are about writing. But you don’t want to stop there! A YouthWrite camp is so much more. Kids can meet other aspiring writers and build connections with kids who think as they do. The camps are overnight camps, so kids can leave their regular lives and families behind to enjoy a retreat, perfect for writing and wordplay. They will be challenged and encouraged to explore new things they’ve never tried before, like songwriting, illustrating, cartooning, screenwriting, improvisation, and body percussion and words. Not only will they be building skills in their passion, but they might learn something they never knew about themselves!
The YouthWrite PEAK Experience Summer Camps run from June 30 – July 5, 2019, for ages 12 – 14 (Peak Experience I) and from July 7 – 12, 2019 for ages 15 – 19 (Peak Experience II). They are located at Kamp Kiwanis near Bragg Creek, a beautiful retreat atmosphere to inspire your kids and give them a lively and entertaining week to remember.
Camps at YouthWrite fill up quickly, though, so don’t delay. Once your young writer has signed up, YouthWrite can be in touch regarding any new developments and course offerings and both winter and summer camp updates.
Kids, you will get to work one-on-one at the Blue Pencil Café, enjoy evening guest performers, and be lulled to sleep by the traditional bedtime story. Perform your words at the Inklings and at the WordPlayful Wrap-up and be amazed by the WordPlayful Players at the BEEG and LEETLE SHOWs! Young writers matter at YouthWrite, so sign up now for a great week of words and play.
