White Point Beach Resort has been a longtime favourite destination for couples and families for its beautiful waterfront, charming accommodations, and peaceful setting. In the summer months, their spectacular 9-hole oceanfront golf course, pristine white sand beach, saltwater outdoor pool, kayaks, and stand-up paddleboards will keep you active all day long. Yes, it is true, ‘Every day is a great day’ at White Point but what about when the weather doesn’t cooperate for summer fun? Is there still endless fun ALL year long? We were about to find out.

When we arrived at White Point, our first order of business, according to our 9-year-old, was to “check this place out”!

Outdoor Fun

An amazing transition happens to beaches along Nova Scotia’s South Shore in the winter months and White Point Beach is one of the best spots to witness this magic. The summer sand gets pulled away and the beaches fill with perfectly smooth beach rocks that mother nature has nurtured to perfection. It makes for a great adventure as the kids walk along the rocky shores to find the perfect wishing rocks and beach treasures. But even during the shoulder seasons at low tide, their sandy beach remains just beyond the coastal rocks before it, and don’t worry, the sand will find its way back by summer!Whitepoint 1

As we carried on down the beach, the new playground was our first official stop. Any season is a great time for a playground pitstop and we all agreed that this was one of the better playgrounds that we have visited. The younger ones will love the slides, swings, and climbing area, while the school-agers can swing the afternoon away on the adventure raft. Feeling competitive? Show the youngsters how we used to do it with old-school hopscotch.

Next, we were off to meet White Point’s most famous residents… the bunnies. Oh, the bunnies! It was at this point, that our 8-year-old established this as the Best. Day. Ever. “I never want to leave!” We all agreed as the sun was shining and we were all happily enjoying our dose of Vitamin D. I already knew, only one hour into our staycation, this was the pick-me-up that all of us really needed after a Nova Scotia winter in the city. But back to the bunnies… complimentary bags of bunny food are available all year and the bunnies are extra hungry in the spring (that or they just need a cuddle). Regardless, there is no shortage of furry friends. I think we could have been entertained finding and feeding the bunnies all day.Whitepoint 4

If you love the great outdoors, there are many activities that are just as good (if not better) to enjoy during the shoulder seasons. After you are finished walking the beach, the Nature Trail is a beautiful and easy hike to enjoy the Spring flowers or Fall foliage. And don’t forget about the bonfire and marshmallow roasts! The fire will take the chill out of the air as you enjoy your sweet treat – nightly at the Ocean Lawn fire pit.

Dining at White Point

After ensuring the bunnies were fed, we were feeling a bit hungry ourselves so we made our way to the main lodge – cozy and contemporary with a rustic feel. This is home to both Elliot’s Dining Room and the Founder’s Lounge. Our meal was amazing, the view spectacular, and the experience unforgettable! We would highly recommend the lobster poutine, seasonal salad, Atlantic tenderloin, pan-fried haddock, fish tacos, and mussels….oh, so good! You truly can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. In addition to restaurant dining, they also offer room service and picnic meals.

White Point offers a meal plan option that includes all meals during your stay. This affordable package allows you to truly enjoy your time without thinking about meal prep and planning. The Family Beach Break Package is the best deal going for families – it includes 2 nights of accommodation, all meals during your stay, and a family fun gift bag!

Throughout the year there are packages and offers geared towards families, couples, Nova Scotia residents, and more.

Indoor Fun

Upon check-in at White Point, you will receive a schedule of activities available during your stay. If you decide that indoors is more what you favour during the colder months, there is still no shortage of fun. The big draw for us was the heated indoor pool, hot tub, and sauna. If you’re not one for crowds, the perks of going vacationing anywhere in the off-season are fewer people. The pool was enjoyable throughout our stay and never crowded.

From toddlers to tweens, teens and older, the Kids Zone and Games Room will keep all the kids and ‘kids at heart’ entertained. Get competitive with a family fooseball competition, team up for pool or ping-pong, join in the daily arts and crafts, or get creative with rock painting – a wonderful keepsake from your time at White Point.

Do you have any tweens or teens who are into fitness? Your Spring or Fall holiday won’t slow them down! In addition to the pool, the fitness center is open daily and there are FREE yoga classes offered a couple of times a week. All skill levels (even kids) are welcome. Summer bonus: when weather permits, yoga classes are held oceanside with a view that dreams are made of!

White Point Nights

At White Point you have many entertainment options as the sun begins to set… cozy up next to the huge fireplace, check out the nightly movie, roast marshmallows at the bonfire, show your skills in the Games Room or borrow a DVD and head back to your room. But to find us in the evenings, you would have to look no further than the Founder’s Lounge. White Point is one of the few venues and possibly the only resort around that hosts live music every night of the week. They have amazing local Nova Scotian musicians who entertain with many different styles and genres. We thoroughly enjoyed the talented Travis Hatcher during our stay. Best part? You can have a family date night while enjoying live music – kids are welcome in the lounge until 10 pm.

White Point Beach Resort is unparalleled when it comes to family fun. There are endless activities to keep everyone entertained while still enjoying the peace and relaxation of your surroundings. Our family decided that summertime at White Point would be amazing but summer in Nova Scotia is generally amazing. The other seasons in Nova Scotia have a bit less going on so we decided our White Point staycation was best in the Spring… but we are already planning our next trip back for the Fall. It seems there really IS endless fun ALL year long at White Point Beach Resort!
