The Chebucto Symphony Orchestra presents their season Finale concert, featuring principal horn soloist, Mimisu Lee. The Orchestra is excited to join forces again with conductor Peter Oleskevich to perform works by Mozart, with Lee as horn soloist for Mozart’s Horn Concerto.
About the Conductor: Peter Oleskevich, Conductor – After graduating from the University of Toronto and the prestigious Orchestral Conducting program at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Vienna, Mr. Oleskevich returned to Canada and began a 25-year association with Opera Hamilton as Assistant Conductor and Chorus Master. He has appeared as guest conductor with Symphony Nova Scotia, the Chebucto Symphony, Nova Sinfonia, the Hamilton Philharmonic, the Kitchener Waterloo Symphony, the Toronto Symphony Youth Orchestra, the Scarborough Philharmonic, the Mississauga Symphony and the Ottawa Valley Festival. While in Austria, he conducted the Pro Arte Orchestra for radio broadcast, the Academy Orchestra and the Niederösterreichische Tonkünstler Orchester in the Musikverein in Vienna. He has received numerous awards and bursaries that include a Canada Council grant for conducting and has taught conducting at the University of Toronto. Currently Mr. Oleskevich lives in Port Williams in the Annapolis Valley. He is the Music Director of the Chebucto Symphony and was recently the Director of the Dalhousie Symphony for the past two years and has taught conducting at Dalhousie for the past four years. Mr. Oleskevich also conducted the Dalhousie Opera’s production of Encounters. He is also an avid photographer.
About the Chebucto Symphony Orchestra: The CSO is a charitable organization that provides performances of classical, popular and culturally diverse music to local and provincial audiences. It is a true community orchestra for musicians of all ages. Their musicians range from high school and university students to mid-career professionals to retired community members.
