Central Halifax is becoming a summer recreational paradise! The Halifax Commons are a renowned local beauty, featuring sports fields, picnic spaces, and the Emera Oval, and the 2023 addition of the aquatic complex makes a visit to the area truly worthwhile. The latest addition to the Commons opened a few weeks ago, and kids have been flocking to this outdoor space ever since!

The Halifax Commons Playground shines brightly on Cogswell Street, between Robie Street and the Cogswell Street traffic circle. This new play space offers something for kids of all ages. It is a mostly mulch-based playground, with a patch of artificial turf for soft landings, and green space around the perimeter, offering plenty of space to toss a picnic blanket and take a break from the action!

The recently added aquatic complex, complete with a splash pad for littles and a beach entry pool with lane swimming, is serious fun for young and old! Best of all, it’s FREE all summer long, just pick up your bracelets for timed entry. Although there is an adjacent skatepark, it will be fenced off after June 10th for renovations. The closure will be a void in the local skater community, but hopefully the new space will be innovative, safe, and fun for all!
So pack a picnic and your sunscreen, and plan to spend the day in Central Halifax this summer! Free outdoor fun awaits you at the Halifax Commons all year long!
