In 2023, the picturesque town of Pictou is gearing up to celebrate a historic milestone—the 250th anniversary of the landing of The Ship Hector. This momentous occasion coincides with the 150th anniversary of the incorporation of the Town of Pictou. As part of the festivities, the town has planned an exciting summer full of cultural activities, festivals, and concerts, transforming the Pictou waterfront and surrounding community into a vibrant hub of celebration.

Pictou

Located North of Halifax, about a 1hr 45min drive, Pictou has become known for having one of Nova Scotia’s largest lobster fisheries and the ferry services that connect the mainland to Prince Edward Island. The true draw of this town is its waterfront and the quaint downtown core, which are absolute hidden gems within our beautiful province.

Thanks to funding support from Build Nova Scotia, Pictou’s waterfront is undergoing an exciting transformation. The Caladh Marquee has emerged as a vibrant event site. This waterfront venue features a 300-seat tent with a stage, where visitors can enjoy a variety of performances. The area also includes a vendor’s village, play structures, art installations, fire pits, public washrooms, and plenty of seating options along the harbour’s edge. The revitalization of this space adds a new dimension to the town’s festivities, providing a vibrant and inviting environment for all to enjoy.
