Collecting candy and showing off Halloween costumes has always been associated with long walks, late nights and ringing doorbells. However, in recent years, a new approach to Halloween has emerged. Say hello to the trunk-or-treat event!

These events are often organized by communities that wish to provide a safe, efficient, delicious alternative to pounding pavement. Participating members will decorate their vehicles, sometimes creating elaborate scenes out of their trunks or tailgates. Kids walk from vehicle to vehicle, collecting candy the way they would during a normal trick-or-treating outing. While this new approach is not meant to replace the door-to-door tradition of Halloween, it can be perfect for those who have small children that tire easily or live in rural areas with long distances between homes.

Halloween

We have put together a list of trunk-or-treat events happening in communities throughout HRM. As always, if your community is having a similar event that is not on this list, please feel free to submit the details on our website and we will be sure to add it to this list.
