If you’re looking for the best Family Halloween Events in Halifax and surrounding areas for Halloween 2017, you’ve come to the right place! Here’s what’s happening for families this spooky season. This listing is divided into three sections: Family Friendly Events, Halloween horrors for adults and teenagers, and spooky Ghost Walks for the whole family.
And since we know you love shopping, we’ve also got some advice from our partner, Mark’s, on what to wear for men as the chilly season approaches.
The Great Big Boo is a family friendly multimedia Halloween show that combines live musical theatre with the big screen to bring you this unique and interactive experience.
Historic Properties is hosting ‘Safe Halloween’, where families can enjoy activities and receive candy in a safe and fun environment
Get ready for our family costume parade with a brand new route this year. This Halloween Spooktacular is going to be a great family event in downtown Dartmouth!
Enjoy free candy, followed by Fireworks at the Dartmouth Crossing Halloween Party on Saturday, October 14th. We went to this event last year and stayed at The Hampton Inn and Suites. Read about it here!
This year, the Halloween party is all day long at the Discovery Centre. Come in costume for tons of spooky games and activities. Check our post for more details.
Visit the Annual Family Halloween Party at the Museum of Natural History. Admission is free with a donation to FEED Nova Scotia.
The Witch’s Trick or Treat House at the Bluenose Ghosts Festival at Alderney Landing is the event for younger kids. Visit the Witch’s House to fill your bag with candy! There are matinees each weekend leading to Halloween.
At Michael’s Kids Club®, kids 3 and up can make their own crafts. This year it’s all about Vampirina! Sign up in-store or just drop in. Every Saturday, leading up to Halloween.
While you’re at Bayer’s Lake, drop into Mark’s to check out the Farwest Davison Vest. With 600-fill duck down insulation, it’s warm and good-looking.
For a spooky trip out of town, go to the Annapolis Royal Ghost Town Festival to see the whole town decorated with friendly ghouls! Don’t miss the famous, and highly acclaimed Candlelight Graveyard Tour.
The Adamson Family Haunted House in Fall River has been cancelled for this year but we are hoping to see them back again in 2018.
Go wild at Shubenacadie Wildlife Park’s Wild Halloween Party. A hauntingly great day out.
Your special man will go wild for the comfortable Farwest Long Sleeve Brushed Herringbone Shirt which comes in graveyard grey, or creepy Khaki. (Those are not the real colour names, obviously!) The Khaki is our favourite.

This has been cancelled for 2017 but we will keep you posted for their next exciting event for parents, scheduled for New Years Eve.
The Mount Saint Vincent Haunted House is open for one night only. Get spooked with them at one of the scariest Haunted Houses in the city!
The terrifying Bloodfields at Riverbreeze Farm, near Truro is worth a visit if you like being scared. Think a convincingly creepy backstory, live actors and buckets of blood and gore. This year there are 4 haunted houses and 2 haunted mazes.
We suggest you bring an extra pair of big-boy pants to this event! How about the Jimi Slim Taper Stretch Light Wash Jeans. Made from easy-care cotton with added stretch for mobility, they sit comfortably just below the waist.
The Dead End Motel is presented by Creep Crew, in the basement of the town’s post office.
This year, the Musquodobit Scaregrounds have created a terrifying asylum.

The 2017 haunt in the barn across from Stirling’s Farm market is billed to be the best yet. Warning: this haunted house is not suitable for young children or the faint of heart.
Haunted Churchill House in Hants County is a heritage property with a terrifying twist. This year it’s “Saxby’s Curse!” Come find out what misfortunes await when a group of unexpecting people don’t heed the warning of an approaching storm…..
In the woods behind Hammonds Plains, visit Haunted Hollow– a horrifying woodland walk.

Science, Spirits and Boos! (19+) – a party just for grown-up ghouls and boys – music, bar, hands-on experiments, a theatre experience and entrance to all the exhibits!
Join a Halifax Citadel Ghost Walk, Friday or Saturday evenings until the end of October.
Tattle Tours offers a Ghost Walk of Historic Halifax on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday evenings (weather permitting), starting at 7:30 p.m, until the end of October.
The Halifax Ghost Walk meets at the Old Town Clock on Citadel Hill at 8:30 pm – no reservations needed! As we near the Halloween season, this tour runs on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights.
