My son is a long-time fan of Captain Underpants and Dog Man so when I heard Dog Man the Musical was coming to Saskatoon for one day only, I knew we needed tickets. On November 7, 2023, Dog Man the Musical was here for two shows. I’m not sure about the second show but the first one was very full. Many happy kids were waiting for the show to begin at Broadway Theatre. Because the show was only here for one day, this is about our experience at the show but it comes back or is in another city, my son and I give it two thumbs up.

Dog Man is a book series created by Dav Pilkey. It is a spin-off book series to the Captain Underpants series. The musical focuses on the origin of Dog Man. (The way he was created was the only part that my son didn’t enjoy in the musical. He was a little bit scared.) Dog Man is a dog-headed cop who protects the city with a little help from his friends. After the show ended, my son said that we needed to get the entire series. This will help with Christmas shopping!

At Broadway Theatre

The great thing about shows at Broadway Theatre is that even if you wait too late to get tickets and sit closer to the back (guilty), you can still see the show. The best thing about going to a show for kids at Broadway Theatre is watching the kids get up and enjoy themselves. The actors on the stage were having a dance party and we loved watching some kids get up and dance with them from the aisle. As always, no photos or video are allowed during the show but I got a quick snap of the stage before it started.

Dog Man The Musical

Enjoy the show!

My son has been going to plays and shows since he was young but this was our first musical. Watching him smile and dance and laugh along with the characters was the highlight of my day. He couldn’t wait to tell his dad all about the show when we got home.

Two Thumbs Up

We give two thumbs up (each) to the performers and also to the people working behind the scenes at the show. The concession crew serving popcorn and drinks was amazingly calm as they made sure ALL the kids and families received their orders. Popcorn was a hot commodity last night.
