We’ve been trying to get out to experience winter at Crossmount Cider Company for quite a while. We booked an igloo in January but had to reschedule. We finally made it last weekend. The igloo rentals are for two-hour time slots. As part of our goal to make it to 1000 Hours Outside, we are always trying to find new and amazing winter spots to visit. Crossmount works great for outside hours every season.

Crossmount has food, drinks, igloos, and a beautiful skating rink. It’s blanketed by beautiful snow. I’m ready for the snow to go but I can definitely appreciate the beauty of it. We decided not to skate on this visit but we did spend some time walking around outside.

We went straight to the igloo when we got there. They have two options to book and we were sitting in igloo number 2. They have a heater set up inside to keep you warm and a big table that my son immediately took over with his toys on. We went inside to order. The Igloo rental includes hot dogs so we had lunch figured out. My son said it was the best hot dog he’s ever had BUT proceeded to only eat three bites before running around in circles.

I also ordered myself a flight so I could try out the ciders. I’ve had a few before but they had some delicious seasonal options as well. We had a lovely time sitting, talking, eating, and trying out new drinks. They have drinks for kids as well! My sister opted for a delicious London fog from the cafe.

My sister and I played crib while my son played with his magnetic toys. He can’t wait for the day he’s old enough to play crib with us but we aren’t quite there yet. I brought my own crib board because I knew we’d have the space to ourselves. They have a crib board inside as well that can be borrowed.

Outside Fun – Photo by Erin McCrea.

We were tempted to hang out in the heated igloo the entire time but decided to get out and explore. We walked around the area and tried to do a photo scavenger hunt. It was a lot of fun and the perfect way to get some outdoor time. We enjoyed watching people have fun on the skating rink. We spent the last half hour back in the igloo so we could relax and warm up before heading home.

It was such a great visit. I wish we had been able to visit earlier but we will definitely plan many more visits in the seasons to come. Crossmount is always a pleasure. The location is beautiful, the people are kind, the food and drinks are amazing.
