Music on Main and the Roundhouse Community Arts and Recreation Centre present BIG BANG Festival, which returns to Vancouver for the second year following a highly successful premiere in 2025. Prepare to be swept up in the magic and excitement of music, dance, and the arts this Family Day weekend!
Audiences ages 5 and up will experience an adventurous journey through musical genres, sound art, and performances from a diverse range of musicians. This vibrant and colourful festival includes mini-concerts, interactive fun, sound installations, surprise performances, and plenty of opportunities for kids (and adults alike) to explore through sound and create their own magic. Children aren’t expected to sit still and listen; they are encouraged to let the music move them and experience the sounds as imagination takes centre stage.
What makes the BIG BANG Festival unique? There’s more than just performances waiting around every corner! Visitors can explore hands-on activities, like a NOISE-O-GRAPH experience or bounce to the beat in the “Bounce House” music playground. Join in and participate in a Scavenger Hunt, get your groove on in a “silent disco,” and enjoy the upbeat sounds of The Carnival Band. Worried that all the sounds might be overwhelming for your kids? There is a low-sensory, calming room called the Chill Zone so your kids (and you!) can take a much-needed break before you dive back into the fun. Families wanting to experience more can choose to join the $5 ticketed events on site: Julia’s Music Room and/or Gamelan Music Room. Each room will feature exclusive performances that are sure to be a highlight of the festival!
In addition to musical discovery, kids will love the colouring stations, face painting, and temporary tattoos to make for a fun and fabulous festival experience.
