Join Dorothy, a young girl from Kansas, as she is whipped into the magical world of Oz following a terrible tornado. In order to make it back home, she must journey along the yellow brick road to meet the great wizard and ask for his help. Along the way, Dorothy encounters characters who, like her, also need to see the wizard to ask for what they desire most. This heartwarming story demonstrates the power of perseverance, friendship, and courage. Dorothy and her band of friends face challenges, such as being pursued by the evil Wicked Witch of the West, but their ability to work together sees them through difficult times.
CTORA Theatre is a nonprofit organization that nurtures emerging local talent and provides job opportunities for theatre professionals across Metro Vancouver. Their productions showcase exceptional acting, thrilling costumes and sets, and top-notch production quality. “The Wizard of Oz” promises to be a “captivating theatrical experience,” says Director Mark Carter. For this production, CTORA Theatre has partnered with a “US company renowned for their expertise in special stage effects.” Audiences will be “transport[ed] over the rainbow and into the heart of Oz” as the magical pieces come together.
