New Year's Eve & New Year's Day SkatesTime to lace up your skates and take a spin around the ice at one of these many New Year’s Eve skates.  There are a bunch of options, every venue is offering something a little bit different to help mark either the end of 2018 or the start of 2019.

New Year’s Eve Toonie Skate:

Enjoy ice skating, face painting, crafts and games to celebrate the New Year.

Polar Bear Toonie Skate:

Start the New Year with a spin around the ice. Enjoy ice skating, face painting, crafts and games. $2.00 per person, skates and helmet included. All ages welcome.

Close out 2017 with a cool afternoon on ice! Skate at Twin Rinks on December 31 from 3-7 pm for only $2. There will be games, prizes, and family fun! $4 skate rentals.

Winter Wonderland Skates:

Skate through a twinkling wonderland. The skating arena will be magically transformed into a winter spectacle. Regular drop-in rates apply.

Winter Wonderland in Richmond:

Skate to festive music and be dazzled by thousands of sparkling lights, real snow banks, decorated holiday trees & more. This is an all ages event. Regular admission rates apply. The times of the skating sessions vary every day. Please check the schedule before heading out.

New Year’s Day Skate:

Start your New Year on the ice & get your face painted too. Stick n’ Puck Hockey (for parents & kids 5 – 12 years) show up at 11:30. As for 12:30 onwards, it is family skate time. Admission is $3.75 (rentals are extra), or pay the Family Rate of $22.50 which includes admission, skates & helmets for up to five people.

Winter Ice Palace:

As is Christmas tradition the Cloverdale Arena will be transformed into the Winter Ice Palace over the winter school break. 2017 marks the 21st year this popular event has been attracting families from all over the Lower Mainland. If you are looking for something to do on either Dec 25th or January 1st, you are in luck as they are open both holiday days. Admission is $4.50. Don’t worry if you forget your skates and helmets, rentals are available. Skate rentals are $3.25 and helmets are $1.75. Call 604-502-6410 for more information.

Robson Square:

The Robson Square Ice Rink is located in the very heart of downtown next to the Vancouver Art Gallery and Robson Street shopping. As it is covered by a clear dome there is protection from rain but is otherwise outside, letting you feel the breeze on you face, letting you feel the energy of the city around you. Don’t worry if you don’t have skates, you can rent them on site. All rentals are cash only: ice skates $5; helmet $2; ice cleats $2.  Other than rentals this great experience is FREE! This is one of a very few venues actually open on Christmas Day.
When: opening December 1, 2018 to end of February 28, 2019 (Christmas Day noon – 5pm; New Year’s Eve 9am – 11pm)
