Did you know that PoMoArts offers more than 350 arts classes to students of all ages? What a wonderful gem of a learning opportunity, and located in the utterly charming community of Port Moody!

After closing their doors to the public in March (much like the rest of the world), PoMoArts has spent the past few months honing their COVID-protocols and safety guidelines. As you get ready to register for their classes we recommend you have a look at their COVID-19 safety plan.

PoMoArts recognizes there are varying levels of comfort when it comes to COVID and learning opportunities, for that reason they are offering both virtual and in-person classes.

Virtual: PoMoArts will continue to offer online programming for people who prefer learning from home. Online visual arts classes and private music lessons in piano, voice, violin are available for people of all ages. PoMoArts is also home to a contemporary public art gallery which is now hosting it’s opening receptions and art discussions online through a new series called The Artist Sessions.

In-person: Visual Arts, Ceramics, Music & More! PoMoArts is offering more short workshops and one-off art classes. They understand that in this climate of “what’s next?” it can be hard to imagine signing up for a 6, 7, or 8 week long course, which is why they’ve (brilliantly) curated a number of unique workshops this fall. PoMoArts has an exceptionally wide range of classes  – visual arts, felting, ceramics, private music lessons in piano, guitar, violin, voice – available for kids aged 6-12 years, and 11+ years (aka Youth).

We also need to draw attention to the Family Classes! While it was a wild ride having everyone home from March – September, we absolutely loved the concentrated family time. Now that school is back in session, the hours spent as a family are significantly diminished. In our house, we are definitely on the look out for activities we can enjoy all together. At PoMoArts, the family arts classes are being offered online.

Something new: In addition to offering traditional visual arts, PoMoArts will be offering a brand new program: therapeutic arts classes for children. It’s important for children to have an outlet to express and explore their emotions, now more than ever. PoMoArts long time teacher Gayle Hunter has created a series of unique classes designed to connect children with their emotions and offer them an outlet to process their feelings.
