The Alberta Teachers’ Strike is in full swing, and in the meantime, your kids might need a place to go! We’re gathering a few options for last-minute day camps while the teachers are on strike. If you haven’t already, be sure to register here for parent support from the Alberta government. If you have a child aged 12 and under who attends a public, separate, or francophone school affected by the disruption, you are eligible to receive $30 per child per school day of the labour action.
Alien In-Line
Keep your kids active while they’re out of school! Alien In-Line teaches everything from the basics of inline skating to cool tricks kids can master at their level. Kids ages 6 – 12 are led by certified instructors for a fun and exciting camp experience. They’ll start with safe skating practices, review basic skills, including proper warmups, before moving on to games and activities. Between skating sessions, kids will enjoy traditional camp activities, too.

En L’Air Academy of Dance and Aerial
Kids can trade the classroom for a week under the big top during the school closure! And you can rest assured that your kids are happy, active, and safe. En L’Air Academy of Dance and Aerial welcomes students to Big Top Mini or Circus Camps. Depending on the age and camp, kids will learn dance, acrobatics, and aerial techniques at these high-energy camps, and enjoy themed crafts and activities.

Heritage Park
The learning never stops at Heritage Park, with school disruption day camps! Designed for grades 1 – 3 and 4 – 6, these camps offer a safe, fun, and educational option for families. While the Historical Village is closed for the season, select sites will be open with programs fitting each day’s theme. Kids will enjoy hands-on activities and learning opportunities. Parents can register for single or multiple days.

House of Skate
The teachers might be going on strike on October 6, 2025, but House of Skate has you covered with active day camps for your kids! No matter what happens with the labour action, your kids will be active, making memories and having fun on wheels! Viva Musica Academy Day Camps
If your family is trying to juggle a new schedule, with work and kids out of school for the teachers’ strike, Viva Musica Academy has day camps just for you! Their full-day music and movement camps offer fun and learning for kids ages 5 – 12. Kids can engage in music, dance, theatre, and creative arts, and they will also practice the basics, like math and reading.

Dinner with Julie
Check out Dinner with Julie, and kids can get cooking during the Teachers’ Strike! Dinner with Julie is offering FREE Zoom cooking classes every school day of the strike at 4 PM. (Kids don’t need to be on camera.) These classes are suitable for kids of all ages, and lessons will vary from cooking to baking. Julie will post an ingredient list and/or a recipe the day before, so you can make sure you have the supplies you need.
