September 30th is National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day. You can mark the day at The Confluence with a free entry, walking tours, storytelling, and a presentation of We Are All Treaty People, presented by Quest Theatre. The site will also host the City of Calgary Orange Shirt Day Program from 9 – 10:30 AM.
We Are All Treaty People follows the story of a Trickster who meets two young girls: one of Aboriginal descent and one of colonial descent. As the girls question whether they can be friends, the Trickster recounts the story of Treaty 7, including the context of its signing, the promises made and broken, and the ongoing challenges we face today. While sensitive topics such as negative racial references, the whiskey trade, and residential schools are addressed, the narrative is conveyed through song, prayer, creative movement, and puppets, aiming to heal and foster understanding. If you miss the show on September 30, 2025, you can catch it on October 10 – 11, 2025, for $10 each.
