When the mornings hold a chill, but the afternoons bring sunshine, we know fall is coming. The world is ablaze with colour, and it’s the best time to pull on those cozy sweaters and head outside. Fall is fleeting in Calgary, so you have to make the most of the season!

Two of the season’s most iconic symbols are a nice big pumpkin and a juicy cob of corn, so here are the best places around Calgary to find your favourite pumpkin or challenge yourself with a journey through a corn maze. Plus, these are great places to plan some amazing photos!

Bowden SunMaze | August – September

This isn’t a corn maze — but it’s better! Home to a sunflower maze – grown from 100,000 sunflowers! – the Bowden SunMaze also features u-pick flowers, veggies and pumpkins, farm animals, and a shaded play area. Concerned about the weather and the state of the various crops? These folks are great about keeping their fans updated on their Facebook page. Located 1 hour north of Calgary, near Bowden (map), the SunMaze is open from August to September. (The SunMaze normally closes early to mid-September.) At certain times, they have extended hours for amazing sunset pictures. Be sure to check for tickets ahead of time; tickets are only available 3 or 4 days beforehand.

Butterfield Acres Harvest Pumpkin Fest | Weekends, October 3 – 25, 2026

As the leaves change colour and the air turns brisk, pull out the cozy sweaters and head outside to the farm. The Butterfield Acres Harvest Pumpkin Fest, taking place every weekend in October, is the perfect fall outing for young families. Visit the farm animals, search for the perfect pumpkin, and take a moment to enjoy fall foliage and family fun!

Calgary Farmyard | Weekends, September 11 – October 25, 2026

The Calgary Farmyard boasts a pumpkin patch in the fall, a giant corn maze, a petting zoo, mini-golf, bouncers, a tractor train and more! Be sure to plan at least one visit during the farm’s Fall Days (weekends in October and Thanksgiving Monday), when they have extra pumpkin-themed fun. The Farmyard also gets lit up for Harvest Lights, when you can also get lost – and hopefully found – in the corn maze, which will be the only section left unlit!

Cobb’s Adventure Park | Weekends in October

Cobb’s Adventure Park is home to a variety of activities, like the Kangaroo Petting Zoo, pedal carts, outdoor games, a giant slide, tractor rides, blacklight mini-golf, and lots more. You can wander through the pumpkin patch for Pumpkin Palooza in October. (If you have older kids that like to be scared, check out Field of Screams for Halloween.)

Granary Road | September 26 – 27 & October 3 – 4, 2026

If you drive a short distance south of Calgary, through picturesque, rolling foothills, you’ll soon find Granary Road. Families love it for the epic Active Learning Park, home to cool themed exhibits and interactive experiences. The Yesteryear Mini Golf offers timeless fun, and families will love the new Indoor Discovery Centre. In the fall, check out Pumpkins int he Park, a family-friendly event that features the popular Pumpkin Hunt. Each ticket includes All-Access Admission, a scenic tractor ride, and a pumpkin to take home.

Kraay Family Farm | Wednesdays – Saturdays until October 17, 2026

Kraay Family Farm is located just west of Lacombe, less than 2 hours from Calgary. But they have amazing farm fun! Every year, the Lacombe Corn Maze has a special, elaborate theme. This 10-acre maze takes about an hour to complete, but if your little ones get tired, there are breaks to get out. There is also a kiddie maze, and kids will enjoy grabbing a ‘passport’ filled with questions to complete along the way. (You can also check out Pumpkin Days in mid-September.)

The Saskatoon Farm | September 12 – 13, 2026

The Saskatoon Farm, just outside of Okotoks, is a fun farm destination. Depending on the time of year, you can come to pick your own saskatoons, sour cherries, and currants. But you’ll also find greenhouses, a gift shop, a restaurant, and a seasonal farmers market! Plan your visit for September, when the Harvest Market brings a wonderful day out, filled with the bounty of fall. You’ll find family activities and a chance to choose your pumpkins.
