Since their arrival in 2012, the Calgary Zoo’s penguins have become one of the biggest attractions in town. Once again this winter, you can see the penguins outside of their usual habitat, as they parade around the zoo grounds!
2019 marks the 7th year of the Calgary Zoo Penguin Walk! The king penguin colony heads out on zoo grounds for a daily enrichment walk in the winter months and visitors get to experience the fun.
This incredible program allows visitors to get an up-close look at the group of king penguins as they explore, exercise, and waddle their way through the zoo. This is a free-choice activity for the penguins and is subject to weather conditions.
This engaging experience is your big chance to get close to a real-life March of the Penguins. The walks are dependent on the birds’ desire to join in and could be cancelled if the weather drops to below -25°C, raises above 5°C, or if the conditions are too windy. If you’re in doubt, please check in at the Calgary Zoo’s Facebook Page or call the zoo at 403-232-9300 before you go!
